========= Baghdad =========

In Baghdad, empty streets, fierce sandstorm, and pollution by
Saddam's thick smoke from burning oil trenches.

Ozymandius by Percy Bysshe Shelley

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said--"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desart . . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandius, King of Kings,
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."

Thank you once again for your most interesting post and pictures. I am addicted to them. One question - what is the captured Iraqi weapon that soldier is inspecting? (2nd to last picture). Is it a blunderbuss?? Please excuse me if that is a stupid question.

Marvelous pictures today Diogenesis. It's so good to see what's really happening without the distorted view of the liberal US media.

Somewhere in the Persian Gulf, K-Dog, a patriotic American bottlenose dolphin and his team

Man, I didn't ever think the US military would have gotten to Mars before NASA. Those sandstorms are surreal. Kudos to the good guys fighting through it!

Yes, big bump for the destruction of tyrants. May our troops and allies be blessed with certain victory and minimal losses--to us--and maximum losses to the evil Fayadeen and Sadam....

Can you imagine having to live in this hellhole? I know most of this is the sand storm, but I wonder how much of it has oil soot in it?

Hey, diogenesis, thanks so much for the awesome pics everyday!

Others have probably said this - but this sand storm picture reminds me of Sept 11th in New York City.....a storm of a different kind, of course.

They see the storm as "Allah" helping them. We see it as helping us to catch our breath while still being able to bomb the bejeebers out of them.

But it just reminds me of that fateful day when the Iraqi aided Al Quaida terrorists changed history and issued an invitation for America to come take them out.....and our journey to do just that now goes through Iraq.
