Police Arrest Four Men Near Detroit Water Plant

DETROIT-- Detroit police reportedly arrested and then released four men near the Detroit Water and Sewerage Plant Tuesday morning.

The men were arrested around 3 a.m. near a plant intake facility near Dearborn and West Jefferson Avenue along the Detroit River in southwest Detroit, Local 4 reported. Several manhole covers in the area were reportedly removed and the men were found with a laptop computer and binoculars.

Federal authorities and Detroit police questioned the men. The suspects were released, but authorities kept their computer to investigate, according to the station's reports.

City of Detroit security and officers from the Detroit Police Department's 4th Precinct reportedly patrol the area. The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department supplies water to the city of Detroit and several suburbs in the metro area, the station reported.

A biologist/college professor friend of my dad said the same thing twenty years ago. With a bit of rudimentary knowledge and access to a water plant much harm can be done.

All should stay calm. Just because they released them,does not end it. They have the computer,and they will be doing extensive surveillance on these 4 leading to the bigger fish. You can be assured that Tom Ridge is well aware of this incident.

Id buy that if Homeland Security was invloved or maybe the FBI. But DPD is so politically Correct due to the massive amounts of muslims in the area. I just dont believe we will hear any more about this. That is until Detroit hospitals are pleading for help and bedspace for a mass influx of very sick people, who have all the sypmtoms of a bio attack. No, there is no good reason for releasing them IMO.

When several individuals were spotted photographing a NE Tennessee dam at 3 am, they were also questioned and released.

Later, the officials determined they had obtained state drivers licenses with faked papers, and they are wanted for more questioning.

Strangely, they cannot be found.

That's pretty weird. I'd like to hear their explanation for pulling manhole covers at 3AM at a water intake? Oh, and they just happened to have binoculars for their lookout. And a computer. But I'm sure they were just out having fun.

Went through some possible "what if I were a terrorist" scenarios with a friendly biologist acquaintance of mine many months ago during the first anthrax scares, and simple, available organic poisons, a large syringe or baster, and a dremmel drill and some uninterrupted time in a vital water main is all that's needed. Guard the water pipelines!

Not that this would kill thousands or even hundreds, but you could go a long way in terrorizing and disrupting.

MANY YEARS AGO, our city received a threat on our water system. We put fish in the water storage facilities as a "testing" method. Were always happy that they were doing their thing.

Well, that explains why there was a Beverly Hills PD (yes, there's a Beverly Hills in Michigan) car sitting outside the water plant on 13 Mile Rd. this morning.

It's funny as heck to read all the people screaming about these persons' release, who haven't got a clue about investigating or surveilling these guys. Of course, these same people are screaming on other threads to light up Hitler's gas ovens for all Muslims...

Really! Laptop and binoculars? Manhole covers off? Whats the clue here officers? Of course they may want to track them to see where they go. If they leave it to the FBI they'll probably lose them after about a block.
