They have a legally defined 35 hr work week like the US has set it at 40 hrs. Overtime is legal, it just happens more quickly and is tightly regulated.

I'm not an expert about this... repeating what I read about france... either way, their "unemployment" figures are not based on similar US stats. Also, I suspect you're right, expecially when you say "tightly regulated", though I suspect "very" may have to be added.

Sigh... time to go... I'll be back for some more schedenfreude later on, but will look into DUh before I return...
