Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; War on Terror

They have a legally defined 35 hr work week like the US has set it at 40 hrs. Overtime is legal, it just happens more quickly and is tightly regulated.I'm not an expert about this... repeating what I read about france... either way, their "unemployment" figures are not based on similar US stats. Also, I suspect you're right, expecially when you say "tightly regulated", though I suspect "very" may have to be added.
Sigh... time to go... I'll be back for some more schedenfreude later on, but will look into DUh before I return...

The Iraqi version of Pink Floyd, maybe? Almost sounds like that elevator sound on Wish You Were Here.I guess we'll know for sure if we see a giant pig float by.

I think it sounds like that noise they played in "Hunt for the Red October". The propulsion for a russian made submarine.

Neil closes the show: "It's a wonder our generals don't say, "screw you."" (^: After asking (rhetorically), "Why is it that some of my colleagues would rather say "Got you!" than "Thank you"?"

"In fact, it sounds as dry and unappetizing as a Freshman-level English class...."
I was in the kitchen sweeping when your joke dawned on me. My daughter looked at me like I was crazy when I started laughing for no apparent reason.

Nope.
Passover (mid-April usually, in our calendar) about 2000-odd years was so cold they lit fires in the courtyard while the press and politcians had a news conference inside about a Roman "rebel" being persecuted under false pretences.
Guess nothing changes.
