Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

yes, starts moving out in the near future...I'd say this week counts as near future, wouldn't you? You have to remember how long it takes to get from here to there too.

Then they're still a month out from the front lines. We'll have to rely on what we have there. But Franks should have moved them right after we saw that Turkey was not playing nice. I don't understand why we let them sit in the states for this long. The 4th is one of our best.

(Wow, it does work.)
To: rangerwife
Yes, that is true on the IR equipment

I'm talking about scopes and goggles that work off of heat, as opposed to light. The variations in temperature of a body and equipment make it stand out against the ground and sand in the air.

From the reports I have heard last 2 days, we knew they had the night vision equipment and that it had been supplied by Russian company. It is only in past couple of days that this information has been released to public. I don't believe we went into this without military knowing what they had in the way of night vision or the GPS blocking equipment.

G'night, y'all. Prayers for our troops, the Prez, and especially our POWs. God grant them the strength to endure what is set before them.

I just hope that these doom and gloom prognosticating retired generals are wrong and the Allies have more than overwhelming force with which to defeat the Iraqis.
To: SanDiegoConservative
I believe you've heard wrong.

Well, if Fox reported it was a bodyguard, I'm pretty sure he isn't around anymore. I had this lingering hope he was still right there filling us in. Then there was the leaked story about the stretcher which may have been a deliberate effort to throw the Iraqi's off. At this point, I want to know what they have planned more than I want to know where Saddam is.

Great, CNBC has the great American patriot Gore Vidal creating linkage between Osama, Preident Bush, and oil. maybe we should mention his family linkage to oil huh?
