Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

There may have been a mole or one of our sneaky petes got eyes on the rendesvous.
Even if no mole you just know Sodomy or his sons whacked a couple just to be sure. Not a good place to draw short straw.
To: Dolphy
I just hope he is still alive.

Fox said the mole was a bodyguard.

Maybe the Jordanians or Saudis will let the 4ID disembark there and go straight to Western Iraq.

"news is that 4th ID starts moving out in the very near future." Moving out? Their stuff is still out on ships. It'll be at least a week, probably more before we see 4th ID on the ground in Iraq.

remember the rumors that Deep throat was more than one person? Maybe there is more than one crucial mole. I am too tired to come up with any kind of name but I am sure there are some clever names for our Baghdaddie Deep Throat.

Yes, 4th ID still is at Ft Hood, a few of them have left already. Since Turkey screwed them, they're being sent to Southern Kuwait. As is their equipment. Maj Gen army dude was discussing it today on the news, and I've heard it around ft.hood quite a bit as well.

Politely disagree ....
Based on my experience of thousands of hours of midwatch duty in the subs baby-sitting the power plants under sonstruction and operation, you can't concentrate on waiting events (that you cannot control youreself) without relieving the stress ...
Further, as people NOT on watch and duty cycles but unrelated, unpaid real people, the banter and bawdiness allow people to rapidly keep up with accurately breaking news from 12-15 different news sources at once - because it ISN'T dry and technical information. It's real people sharing something so they don't go crazy..
And attempts (by Navy reactors, visiting officer inspectors, squadron advisors, or Rickover himself, or the local police) only increase the stress levels.
Each one-two sentence post requires 2 seconds to read - 4000 can be covered in two hours if you wish. Skip the ones not relevent to your own interests.
Please.

What kind of IR equipment do you mean? The IR strobes we use on our tanks to mark positions or on individual soldiers can be seen with plain old night vision goggles from what I understand...correct me if I'm wrong. I just think this could turn out to be bad for us because we went into this thinking we had the upper hand on the night fighting.

Sky just showed headlines of the various British rags. My favorite was from The Independent: Undaunted by losses, Allies push toward Baghdad
