Kofi Annan just announced that once the war is over, UN inspections will continue. What the hell is this pygmy smoking?

NeverGore Love your moniker. Sounds like a line in an Edgar Allan Poe poem.

What, is Kofi the "eveready bunny" of inspections? Can't he go back to his own country and try to "solve" one of the many problems there... Oh yeah, they sent him to the UN because he's an incompetent bureaucrat.
To: enemy9oclock
"Actually, I'm mortally terrified that he'll step down before we can withdraw, and Slick Willie will take his place"Here's a scarier thought : if we leave the UN, the US will no longer be a permanent member with veto power...thus ENSURING Slick Willy's ascension to Emperor of Earth via the UN.

Yeah, but I don't trust the council to not change their rules to allow it to happen. The U.S. was recently VOTED OUT of the budgetary council (forget the official name), so they could plan how to spend OUR contributions behind our back. Silly things like rules and laws have never gotten in Clinton's way before.
To: cake_crumb
Yeah, but without our money and military, the UN would be pretty harmless. Willie and Jacque could scheme all they want - maybe along with Germany they could scrape up enough Euro$ to buy a notepad to scribble their meaningless resolutions on.

It's a jobs program
"Will inspect for $$$$$$$$$$$$."

"He also said the Oil for Food program will continue..." Not Likely, France and Russia have promised to veto any UN resolution to allow the US and Britian to administer Iraq. Therefore the UN is out of the picture.

American inspectors have already arrived.
To: George W. Bush
I agree. I'm afraid Kofi is not going to go away.

He also said the Oil for Food program will continue as well
Hey Kofi! Why don't we just feed these people and worry about how they're going to pay for it later? Hmmm?

We will need the UN to act as human mine sweepers for us after the war. So clearly, they do have role...

INSPECTIONS CONTINUE ???? THERE ARE 300,000 INSPECTORS IN IRAQ AS WE SPEAK ! Yes, and if you are talking about the military, didn't we find 2 chemical plants so far, the Iraqis launched scuds they said they did not have ... Maybe that is why the UN did not want us to go in there.
But as some clever person said on another thread: Ignorance is Blix.
