Troop Prayer Thread 3

Posted on 03/23/2003 9:08:38 PM PST by TEXOKIE

A number of us have recently decided to form an active prayer circle here to pray for our Troops. We have many fine young men and women known to us here at FreeRepublic.com serving in the Army, Navy, Marines, Airforce and Coast Guard. Several on our troop list to date actually are registered in the forum, and have become known to us personally among the constellation of Freepers.

If you would like to submit someone for our list, you are welcome to do so at any time. Post their name or pseudonym here on the thread or freepmail amom or myself. If we have made any errors, please let us know so that we may correct the list. We will be making periodic updates.

We invite everyone, active Freepers and Lurkers alike to join our circle in prayer for these fine men and women who have volunteered to place their lives on the line for the defense of our nation and for the liberation of the oppressed peoples of other nations. To them we send our greatest respect and gratitude. We send them our prayers and good thoughts. We ask for God's blessing upon them and their families.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly approprieate, and non-moving graphics. Thank you.

Loving Father, in humble trust we draw your attention to every act of violence and terrorism being planned against our country and our military.

Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to expose and defeat weapons of destruction.

We take authority in Jesus' Name over every planned act of violence and command it to wither and die.

Father, forgive those who would seek to harm the POW's and bring them into a healed relationship with our Lord Jesus.

Thank You for protecting our country and those of our Coalition. Thank You for alerting many intercessors to pray a shield of protection around our countries and around those individuals assigned to protect the people of our countries.

Holy Spirit, come. Release the peace of Christ among the soldiers, bring harmony to the Coalition. We know that there is nothing lost in the Spirit. We ask that You would lead and direct those who search and rescue our soldiers and POW's. We thank You for keeping Michael Speicher and we pray that he is still alive and returned to us. Though men may forget, You oh Lord never leave us nor forsake us.

Thank You, Lord.
Amen.

As we pray for God to protect our troops from harm, we ask for strength for their families and support from their communities. We pray for our beloved troops each day and honor them by flying our flags proudly.

You are most welcome, but the credit is not mine. The ping list was put together by TEXOKIE and amom - they are the BOMB!

The report that some of the captives may have been publicly executed is one of those that hits me in the pit of the stomach. Let's hope that it is WRONG.

Agreed FM. Nothing I say seems strong enough or adequate. And definately not appropriate for this thread. Resorting to prayer once again.

FM just as a poing of clarification. TEXOKIE and some others from the Yellow Rose of Texas thread came up with the concept. TEX put the idea into reality and I just pitched in later on by collecting up the names into a list. And now here you are with your help. It is appreciated and good to be among old friends right now.

Thank you for posting the soldier's open letter to the Dixie Chicks, Dubya.

I am friends with one of the sound men who runs a couple of the stages at an international blue grass festival held annually in our area. We often see groups perform there who are on their way up and just poised on their big breaks. My friend told me that when the Dixie Chicks performed on his stages they were rude and arrogant. They had no problem about stepping on people. He said he wouldnt cross the street to shake their hands. They were very popular with the crowds that year at the festival, but based on my friend's assessment of their character, my husband and I opted out of listening to their concert. Texohubby just reminded me last night about that and stated that he was so GLAD that we made that decision!

I understand your feelings, Minty about wishing to comfort family members of those with captured or fallen loved ones. The thing I keep reminding myself is that while I'm helpless, God is not. Truly, as we pray, we affect events and people in ways we cannot imagine.

It does hurt to see the capture or loss of such magnificent young people. I do thank God every day that there are such bright and shining Ones who have made the choice to use their lives for the defense of Freedom..."God's gift to humanity." Truly the angels of God in heaven are singing their praises. The ones who have been called home are surely being blessed with abundant rewards....and not dozens of virgins either! God is blessing them with delights and joy of which we have no capacity to imagine.

I join you in your prayers that the families of the Fallen/Captured and Ones who are fighting on are granted consolation, hope, and strength and that they will not feel any kind of sense of aloneness.

Thank you for your thoughtful and heartfelt contribution to this thread.

Re: your post 171:

Thank you for posting this link, Dubya. For those who have not followed that link, it contains a beautiful poem entitled "In a Land Far Away" . There is also the recording of an American woman born in Iraq giving her testimony as to the truth that Saddam is the one killing women and children, not George Bush.

I encourage all participants in this thread to follow the link Dubya posted!

Thank you for leading us in prayer as soldiers in battle, Michael121. Amen.

To all our lurkers and freepers who are active military:

We so admire all of our troopers. We can see their bright shining faces on the newscasts. You can see the fervor of the sure knowledge that what they are doing is right just rolling off of them. We want all our troops to know that you ARE doing right, and we here at home truly ARE behind you, (some talking heads in the media notwithstanding.) It is a just cause you are engaged in, wherever you are posted. YOU ARE ALL HEROES AND WE LOVE YOU AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!

Thank you for letting us know about the service of Cpl Mark Arnold, Valin.

Our Father in Heaven, we ask that you will enfold Mark and his aunt and their entire family during this time of separation. Keep Mark safe and alert and in the hollow of your hand whenever danger is near. Surround him and his buddies with the love and gratitude of his aunt, Valin, and all of us here who want them to come home safely and victoriously. Let Mark know that we love him and regard him as a hero, no matter what job he may be doing. This which we call forth for Mark and his family, we call forth for each and every one of our troopers individually and their families. Amen

Thank you for this story about Patrick Miller's faith and church family, in your post 194 Dubya.

Father,
We all pray that while Patrick is in enemy hands his faith will be sustained and strengthened. We pray for his body temple, but most of all we do pray for the nourishment and sustainment of his soul and faith. We are praying this not only for Patrick but for all who are being held. We thank you that there is no cell or dungeon into which you cannot reach. We ask that you will go to these young people and assign angels to them to protect them each and every moment. We praise you Father for the love and attention you shed upon them and their families. We praise you for the desire and willingness to serve the Holy Cause of Freedom which these and all our troopers have. Seal them in your mighty impenetrable flames.

If there are those who are missing or are in danger of capture, now or in the days to come, we ask, if it is possible, that you will surround them with a cloak of invisibility, invincibility and invulnerabliblity so they may return safely to our lines.
Amen
