Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Brett Bair (sp) looks like The Beav all grown up.

That is the age range for those on the front line, especially those that are in 3ID.

Hubble and recon sat's are step-sister and half-brother.
The same company makes both, and turned a pretty profit from NASA and the NSA/CIA by cross-buying the machinery (polishing eqpt and vacuum chambers and metal plating machinery for both types of satellites) at the same time.
by themselves, neither government agency would pay for the infrastructure (imagine the Army buying a new blast furnace at Bethleham Steel just to make tank armor for Chrysler that Chrysler uses the rest of the year to make car bodies) but the combined contracts managed to (somehow!?!) pay for the new instruments for the company.
And they STILL screwed up the calibration on the HUbble mirror! (Makes you wonder if some of the spy satellites are screwed up also, but we don't know it/haven't been told about it.)

But the Beav is all grown up and he's fatter than that!

The average age of an infantry soldier is 19 years old. So that is why 3rd ID seems to have a lot of them. So does texas, kentucky, Colorado, Hawaii, NC and a few other first to fight type Divisions.

Our guys are the best. I think Sadaam is dead too.

I see it when my eyes are closed. Is that a sign of addiction? You and me both.
I remember in GW1 we had many shots of views from the air war of smart bombs, etc. We haven't seen squat from arial bombardment this time.
To: Doomonyou
The DoD released some gun cam footage earlier today. Not much, maybe four or five strikes.

I can hear the artillery fire right outside my window at Ft Hood, it's something I've heard at every base I've lived on for the last 10 years and am completely immune to anymore. For the last 6 or so days, everytime I hear it I turn and look at the tv to see where we're bombing.
