Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Tariq is a diplomat with diplomatic status. I the statement about someone new being appointed is true, I'd say Saddam has him targeted. He simply knows too much.

Um... looked to me like close range head shots on people who wear helmets in battle. Would he care to elaborate on how that's possible? I seriously doubt their sniper capability is that good.
Of course!

Look what I found on another site....I don't don't know how true it is but I wanted to bring it to the groups attention..
12:18 EST A fierce battle is underway in An Nasiriyah, adding that U.S. Marines had to withdraw after the intial attempt to get in the city and Americans tanks now are fiercely shelling the Iraqi positions on the city's outskirts. U.S. forces were earlier beaten back from the Euphrates bridge, which they held for a short time. The Iraqi forces in the city consist of several 11th Infantry Division units, Baath Party military units, special Baath police and various militias, including tribal detachments. Ali Hassan al Majid commands the city's defenders, according to one source.
Chemical Ali has surfaced...

Don't look back Tariq, somebody might be following.Hey...His body double is wearing the same cheap, ugly glasses as Saddam's. Baghdad Lens Crafters must have been running a two for one sale.

Tariq is an enemy. MSNBC knows where he is? Aren't there rules about not aiding the enemy? True .. but the ARE the media and WON'T tell
Might also be another reason why we left the lights on in Bagdad .. I'm sure our boys are following him ..

Fox is showing live pics of the bomb threat in Kuwait City at the hotel where most of the journalists stay. OMG they'll be going nuts.
To: All
Is anyone using the CNN Baghdad webcam? Does it have sound? The MSNBC one has lots of sound but it sounds like wind.

I wish the WH press corps...including Helen...had been imbeded w/our troops.Maybe they could give her a ride on one of those mine-clearing sleds towed behind a helicopter. Just to give her a real feel for actual combat.

I knew I should have bookmarked it. I have the one of the guy on the radio talking to the "little girl". I need the other one of the woman.

Good answer by Ari: "One of the reasons the President authorized force is that he had watched diplomacy fail, sanctions fail, oil for food fail, pinpoint military efforts fail..."
HA!

I've been gone for a few days, this is the first I've heard of Aziz surfacing...I'm way behind all of you. Is this the first time he's shown his mug and spewed his bs?
To: Lauratealeaf
What bull! Guess he must be a little fearful that time is going to be up soon and he may be charged as a war criminal! Why are you so sure this is not true? Have you watched the video that was released? I have and I got the clear impression that the dead soldiers were killed in combat.

Arnett fancies himself as a world reporter; if he didn't have a minder, he's still check himself, thinking his views are the correct ones.
He could know where Saddam is and not tell a sole, as long as HE got an interview.
To: Wphile
He was referring to Basra. I believe I read that also. ??
If the Basra citizens could muster up enough guts to beat the $hit out of the Iraqi military and the Fedayeen martyrs that are in their homes maybe they can go out and get some water. I guess "Lets Roll" has not reached them yet. They are still suffering like battered women syndrome. They need to be supplied with cast iron skillets and butcher knives.

Question: "Why haven't we seen scenes of jubilation?"
*SIGH*
To: retrokitten
What a hoot! Another: Why do you have all those guns? You might hurt somebody. Clinton wouldn't do that.
