Black Muslim US soldier is a suspect! ("10 U.S. Soldiers Hurt In Grenade Attack")

(CBS) Ten U.S. soldiers were injured, six or seven of them seriously, in a grenade and small arms attack at Camp Pennsylvania in northern Kuwait, reports CBS News Correspondent Mark Strassmann, who is traveling with the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division.

Strassmann said the grenades were rolled into two commanders' tents at the camp. When officers ran from the tents, they were hit by small arms fire.

"From our reports it appears that a terrorist penetrated Camp Pennsylvania, one or more terrorists threw two hand grenades into a tent," said George Heath, spokesman at Fort Campbell, home base of the 101st.

Strassman said three suspects were being held for questioning, two Kuwaitis who served a translators and an American soldier described as a black Muslim.

The injured soldiers were rushed to a field hospital but military officials had no word on their conditions, Lt. Cmdr. Charles Owens said from Camp As Sayliyah in Qatar.

The military did not identify the unit of the 101st that was in the camp but said it had been in Kuwait for about one week. Most of the division has entered southern Iraq.

Separately, Strassmann reported, an Iraqi rocket fired at U.S. forces in Kuwait was destroyed by Patriot missiles launched from nearby Camp New Jersey.

The terror and missile attack came as the U.S. assault on Iraq gained steam. American and British forces besieged the southern city of Basra and pounded Baghdad with impunity. But tough fighting loomed for coalition troops as they pressed deeper into Iraq.

Unless you have a slew of Jews and Christians ALSO committing these acts, also in the name of their religion, also with texts that identify their enemies by their religion... (Those the Jews fought are no more, Christianity does not condone violence against Jews. It's because we would wonder why someone would say we weren't white when it's patently obvious we are. Such a statement (that Greeks aren't white) would prima facie be a LIE. Does someone think we undeserving of the connotation? Are we untermenschen? Or is it an effort to dilute any political leverage we Greeks might wield? If I take the premise that a person making such a statement were LYING or otherwise acting in an underhanded manner, any of the above reasons (or any others to which I might arrive) would and should make me angry. We would be fully justified in opposing such a statement.

Fox just interviewd a witness, he just said that in his opinion the guy did it because of his Muslim Faith.

Just got through watching FOX.

Obvioulsy a black Muslim...whether American born or a West African born immigrant I couldn't say.

He is with an engineering attachment with the 101st.

Of the wounded several looked very serious. One has died sadly. Several others seriously wounded.

The perp was striking out at brigade leaders.

One of the wounded was a woman (so much for no women in combat eh?)

He appeared to be striking out in some misguided interpretation of his religious convictions.

Yup. It's happened far too much, and I have no doubt it will happen again someday. We Greeks got off lucky--as far as I know, there aren't any common derogatory terms for us but then again there aren't all that many of us here in the U.S. I guess you could say we're under everyone's radar. My stepfather is Irish as are many of my friends (the rest are Italian). I don't need to tell you what they went through--all are "white", but all have suffered horribly upon entering this country before eventually becoming accepted. I personally got off easy because I don't look Greek--I look far more like my stepfather for some reason. One friend was so surprised to learn I was Greek he exclaimed, "Man I thought you were a little leprechaun!"

As for the Italian thing, italian immigrants were making less than blacks in New York City during the height of Italian immigration. In the deep South, Italians were lynched because they hired blacks and didn't take kindly to segregation. That's another thread altogether.
