[history]
Washington has claimed that the group, Ansar al-Islam, connects Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to Al Qaeda. The Kurds also say Ansar could be an obstacle in any U.S.-led offensive on Saddam through the north.
A ground assault against Ansar, using Kurdish forces, was also being prepared and could start soon after Friday night's strike, said a high-level official of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Kurds say Ansar's strategic Biyare stronghold in the mountains, with sympathetic Islamic groups on each side, the Zagros Mountains to the rear and a narrow, heavily guarded pass in the front made a ground assault unfeasible without air support."
Evidence appears STRONG that sufficient AIR SUPPORT can be arranged.
Biyare, Zagros mountains, and the "heavily guarded pass in the front" are areas which can be easily targeted with GPS coordinates, and Lasers.
Expect some progress in these sector(s). In due time, of our choosing.

A ground assault against Ansar, using Kurdish forces, was also being prepared and could start soon after Friday night's strike, said a high-level official of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, speaking on condition of anonymity. Kurdish militia fighters and heavily armed U.S. Special Forces poured into the area near Halabja, which neighbors the Ansar stronghold. A Kurdish military official, also refusing to be identified by name, confirmed the report of the missile strike. Pentagon officials said Friday night they had no information about a strike on Ansar. Ansar al-Islam, a militant Islamic group with 700 hardcore members, controls 18 villages near the city of Halabja, located next to the Iranian border."

Yes mullah krekar was arrested in his apartment thursday night after resisting arrest. He was imprisoned for 4 weeks after saying in an interview with a dutch paper that his 'ansar islam' was ready for suicide attacks against NATO forces.
The norwegians think of mulla krekar as an ugly(ever seen him?)cancerous growth that they cant get rid of, feeding off their tax dollars(he and his family of 5 and brother). He is the man Norwegians love to hate and will be until they can manage to get rid of him.
