France would block any UN resolution giving the US and Britain the power of administration in Iraq, French President Jacques Chirac has declared.
He said France would still not support a resolution backing war at this stage and would also oppose a resolution giving Washington and London administrative power in Iraq.
"This idea of a resolution seems to me to be a way of authorising military intervention after the event, and so is not, in my point of view, fitting in the current situation," Mr Chirac said at a news conference in Brussels.
"France would not accept a resolution that authorises military intervention and gives the United States and Britain administrative powers in Iraq."

No good, chirac would veto. This guy needs to have his cheese checked for radiation poisoning. If we initiated this war in spite of a French veto what makes him think we would pay attention to another veto concerning administrative procedures?

The UN trust fund should be linked to a resolution on the governance of Iraq. As I said yesterday the answer to this should be that the Iraqi people will administer the government of Iraq.

What part of "We are not asking for permission from any cheese eating surrender monkeys" is it that they don't understand. :)

Add Afghanistan to the US-only list. Good call; I've heard that capitalism is absolutely flourishing over there.

Can we veto any measure that
includes them?
Two can play this game. But, ultimately, the french make no difference anyway. They played their hand (well, overplayed...) and they lost, plain and simple.
Did I mention that they smell too? Oh, that's a given...you're right, you're right, I forgot one of the enduring truths of the universe: THE FRENCH JUST STINK!

Said Chirac: "France would not accept a resolution that authorises military intervention and gives the United States and Britain administrative powers in Iraq."Yes, Jacques, you WILL "accept" Anglo-American admininistrative powers -- here's your toothbrush and pail. You can start on the urinals....

We're not going to administer Iraq. The Iraqis are. And it is they who will be dealing with the French. Or not. Their call.
As for the U.S. going to the UN for money to rebuild Iraq, get real - numero uno, Iraq has and will have plenty of money of its own, and numero two-o, we don't go to the UN for money, they come to us for money.
I still think this is an Onion article...
