Current Los Angeles Protests Turning Ugly (Thursday night)

Gathered information from KFI radio, local television, and police scanner:
The idiots at the corner of Wilshire & Veteran are growing in number, cops are starting to fight back (hear a lot of "double time" and "need it yesterday"), and reports are that the crowd is starting to burn flags.
Before its newscast ended, KABC-TV showed riot-geared police pushing folks out of streets and onto sidewalks. The poor reporter was obviously shaken and quake-voiced. Looked ugly and sounds like it's getting worse as of 19:02.

It barely comes in up here. Thanks for the updates. The scanner is relatively quiet for now; must be holding their positions (meaning, waiting the peace rioters out).

They have been ranging from the Federal Building to Wilshire and Federal. W&F is one of biggest intersections in LA. And we have Freeped many times during the recount in front of the Federal Building. Lots of traffic.
To: BunnySlippers
Just curious, but in your estimation, how many people would you say are involved with the anti-war protests outside your building? Is there anywhere near the 1000+?

Having lost the debate, lost public support, and unable to better their numbers from February, the peaceniks have absolutely no choice to remain relevant but to turn to violence. "Peaceful" protest bump

There is one thing they could do to really make a powerful statement, and we should encourage them. They could shut down the Oscars. What can we do to encourage that? Double dog dare them?

I did not see todays since I left work on time ... but yesterday there were very few ... about 200 to 250. Today, as I understand, there were more.

They have most of Portland Oregon shut down... injured an officer, destroyed some downtown businesses, broke windows, blocked access to bridges, and are occupying the CENTER of the INTERSECTIONS of key bridges in downtown avenues of egress and acess..
the foolish mayor vera katz says these are mostly "peaceful" protestors, and that the police are doing a good job... while assaults and property damage are going on by the leaders... SHE SAYS THE POLICE ARE DOING A GOOD JOB...
Gonna get ugly. The protestors and the situation that is. I know, some folks think vera already is.
unbelievable...
I don't think this qualifies as peaceful protest. I think it is time for our new GOVERNOR to take action against the "students"... martial law and riot squads, would be just fine with me.

These kids are desperate for attention Exactly right! Just like the SDS and hangers on in the 60's and 70's. Maybe 1-2% hard core Commies and the rest just trying to feel "part of things."
That said: they should be rounded up like the cattle they are and put into secured compounds where they can processed and fingerprinted. This is not Vietnam (Gd bless our Vietnam heroes)---This is a worldwide terrorist war and they are acting like the enemy.

Isn't the National Guard or an Army Depot right at the SE corner there? Is World Savings actually a business? It's so generic, I assumed the sign was put up for a film and never changed back. The National Guardis on the corner. There is a bank called World Savings in the lobby ... I work at the brokerage firm on the top floor ... no relation to the bank.

They are talking about how the offramp to Wilshire from the 405 has been closed because of these punks. That would so tick me off if I was on the 405.
They're asking a guy how many people are there. The girl protester they talked to "Theresa" said 2500, but the guy working with C & S says no where near that many.

Well said.
Heres some more crap I just found, this is some dimwit "supporting our troops:"
"Turn military bases into industrial centers for the production of low cost housing, schools, hospitals, daycare centers, rail lines, inner city parks, and other social and public goods that can enrich rather than snuff out life."
I just don't know what to say....

Just another example of mindless utopia from a Liberal socialists.
...I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the author of this piece wouldn't be too anxious to set foot in said housing, knowing a lot of chemical residue is there. That's why most of these elites live in very exclusive and expensive neighborhoods, and not among the masses they claim to care so much about.

The chick they are talking to now is comparing Ariel Sharon to Saddam Hussein. They called her an idiot.
To: hole_n_one
Looks like Sharia, if they were forced to wear that 24/7, would they protest? Clueless fools.

Think! If inhalables and injectables have left anything capable of thought in the brain.
I've found that conservatives and liberals can't be readily discerned by which
one smokes dope and which one doesn't. The cataphasia hereabouts that every
leftie is drug addled accords with reality to the degree that every rightie is a jew-hating racist boozer.
