HAVANA, Mar 19, 2003 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Jamaican Prime Minister Percival Noel James Patterson on Wednesday described the imminent United States-led war on Iraq as a unilateral action.
The president said the US move would do harm to the United Nations, Havana media reported.
He said most countries have criticized US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair for making their own particular interpretation of UN Resolution 1441.
He added that aggression against Iraq would delay economic recovery and weaken investments in his country.
"The Jamaican administration will have to focus its efforts even more so as to cope with the critical consequences of the impact of war and the increase in the price of oil on the tourist industry," he said.
Emergency plans were under consideration and would go into place soon.
The United States announced late on Monday a 48-hour ultimatum to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and his sons to leave Iraq or face war.
