HAVANA, Mar 19, 2003 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Jamaican Prime Minister Percival Noel James Patterson on Wednesday described the imminent United States-led war on Iraq as a unilateral action.

The president said the US move would do harm to the United Nations, Havana media reported.

He said most countries have criticized US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair for making their own particular interpretation of UN Resolution 1441.

He added that aggression against Iraq would delay economic recovery and weaken investments in his country.

"The Jamaican administration will have to focus its efforts even more so as to cope with the critical consequences of the impact of war and the increase in the price of oil on the tourist industry," he said.

Emergency plans were under consideration and would go into place soon.

The United States announced late on Monday a 48-hour ultimatum to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and his sons to leave Iraq or face war.

There must be a fundamental law that liberal politicians are singularly dense and can't read dictionaries. None of these people seem to know what unilateral means.

Percy had best be understanding that the only reason he has a healthy tourist industry is because of the colossus to his north.

That can dry up - there are other nice, warm Caribbean islands which would adore the business.

You know I love Jamacia, it's a great vacation spot, but this article is a little much ... this PM needs to get off the sugar cain plantation a little more often ....

-- Jamaican Prime Minister Percival Noel James Patterson on Wednesday described the imminent United States-led war on Iraq as a unilateral action. He said most countries have criticized US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair for making their own particular interpretation of UN Resolution 1441.

So much for "UNILATERAL", i.e. two countries would be more of a "BILATERAL" last time I checked websters .....

The president said the US move would do harm to the United Nations, Havana media reported.

Uh huh, and all the great things that the UN has done for us and the people of the world ... like ... like ... uh ... KOREA!! Oh, were still there ... uh, what was that other war they fought? hmmm ... 12 years ago, wasn't it? oh yeah, IRAQ! But we're still there too!?!?!? Hmmm, seems like the UN does enough to harm itself.

He added that aggression against Iraq would delay economic recovery and weaken investments in his country. "The Jamaican administration will have to focus its efforts even more so as to cope with the critical consequences of the impact of war ....."

I see, so this is really more about ME, ME, ME ... this war is hurting our tourist business!!!

.... and the increase in the price of oil on the tourist industry," he said.

And based on the news all this week, and the forecast of this war being a quick one, the price of crude has dropped 20%. Someone buy this poor man a newspaper!!

Emergency plans were under consideration and would go into place soon.

Emergency plans? In Jamacia? That means the rum vats are half empty!! ;-)
