A 34-year-old West Australian woman acting as a human shield in Baghdad says she will stay in the Iraqi capital even if bombs start dropping. Michelle Pule, from Perth, said she arrived in Iraq last week and would stay because she wanted to help the thousands of innocent Iraqis who would perish in any war. "I'm planning on staying and I think I will try and help in whatever way I can and whatever happens, happens," Ms Pule told ABC Radio. She has basic medical training but cannot speak Arabic. She said two other human shields left Iraq last week, but another Australian had since arrived in country.
"Once war has started I assume people like myself won't be able to do much if there is a bombing campaign which I believe there will be," she said. " ... but after bombing has stopped I assume there will be people that will be needing assistance, even if it's a simple task of being a witness of what's actually happening at the grassroots level in Baghdad." Her father, Jerry, said he and his wife, Mimi, held grave concerns for their daughter's safety. "I disagree with her decision and I feel for her safety and particularly now, because she has indicated that whilst all the others are leaving she is not going to leave," Mr Pule told AAP. "That is of grave concern to us." Describing his daughter as a "very passionate young lady", Mr Pule said he was very surprised when he found about what she was planning to do. "The first we heard of it was on our radio station at 6PR," he said. "We didn't even know ... and then she kept herself incommunicado from us because all we wanted to do was talk to her and make her understand the gravity of the situation she would be heading into." But he said Ms Pule, who works for WA's Family and Children's Services, was very committed to the anti-war effort. "Michelle sees our concern for her as political interference against her decision but of course we respect her choice ... and we're not saying that she shouldn't have a choice we are just concerned about her welfare." Ms Pule said her parents had tried to prevent her departure. "My parents certainly tried their best to stop me which caused immense difficulties for me trying to leave Perth ... I felt that it was not their place to make that decision," she said. "I am an adult, that was my choice, I am aware of the consequences and it is my decision to be here." She said the activists in Baghdad had come to the realisation their work would not stop the war but she said the greater sorrow was for the thousands of Iraqis who would die in the action. "I feel extremely sad for the Iraqi people ... the greater sorrow is that Baghdad is full of civilians, there are thousands of innocent people here all over the place and these are the people who will suffer the most," she said. Also on ABC Radio today, Adelaide's Ruth Russell said she would stay as a human shield at a grain silo at Taji, near Baghdad. She would stay in Iraq until "after the bombs" and was prepared to die for the anti-war cause. "It's just been overwhelming, the amount of people from every single country that is coming to support Iraq and say that this is wrong."
Now, here is Ms. Pule's Web page:
President Pure Power, Michelle Pule from Perth, Western Australia, is the self-appointed leader of a movement aimed at creating a New World Order on Planet Earth and then beyond into the Universe. President Michelle sees herself as a facilitator in the evolutionary process of life in the universe and on earth.
While her primary goal is the eradication of paedophilia, she has many objectives which include the following:
1. The unification of all life forms on planet earth, whilst maintaining and recognising the need & richness of diversity amongst beings, cultures, religions & lifestyles everywhere.
2. The creation of safe environments for children to live and grow up in by aiming to "fix" family units and encourage optimal conditions for all children to achieve their full potential.
3. The facilitation of the growth and development of opportunities for the underprivileged groups in society by increasing wealth creation at all class and social levels.
4. Advocating for the rights & acceptance of people who are different whether they be gay, disabled, indigenous or an alternate live form to humans etc.
5. Role-modelling to World & Business Leaders a new way to think, create, achieve and lead the world, by building a better universe for everyone.
6. Recognising and embracing the unlimited potential of the universe, including the existence of other life-forms, the brilliance of humanity and the benefits of technology to improve the quality of life for all.
7. Facilitation of social order, justice and the law by integrating Military and Police Systems globally with high technology, by balancing the rights to freedom of speech & democracy, against humanity's tendencies to violate, destroy, abuse or commit offences against others.
8. Balancing humanity's needs at all levels for more power in a manner that preserves life and sustains peace on earth, while allowing opportunity for our innate needs to fight and compete to continue and develop in appropriate manners.
9. The facilitation of procedures and techniques to minimise suffering and health problems amongst all life on earth.
10. The encouragement of personal development amongst all life-forms, on a intellectual, emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual level.
11. A recognition of the need for individuals to accept personal responsibility and be empowered through self-determination.
While the New World Order is neither a religion, nor a political party, it aspires to demonstrate to the world, a new way of existence. President Michelle is NOT a member of the Illuminati, or other secret societies claiming to be the New World Order. She champions the truth and has no ambition to offer a leadership approach of oppression or dictatorship upon humanity. She supports principles of democracy, as well as "possibility thinking" and aspires to achieve the Jedi aim of "balance" in the Cosmos.

From her own website's Poetry Page -
Committed to the Asylum
Freedom, stolen with the stroke of a pen,
Committed to an Asylum,
To be released who knows when?
Surrounded by others discarded as well,
Burdened with feelings, but no-one to tell.
Pumped full of drugs that suck life from your eyes,
Shielded from reality, the truth unrealised.
Emotions labelled and put in a box,
No room for expression,
Only surrounded by locks.
I hope at least this time round,
I get to wear my own jocks!
It seems that she has a history of mental illness, and that the "Antiwar Movement" is taking advantage of someone who is ill in order to further their political agenda.
Was that supposed to be a pun?
Like you said, major nutcase.
Buh Bye... Kinda hard to help when one is in 1000 pieces.
