Per FNC: Kidnappers kept her in a hole in the ground 3.5 miles from her home. She led police to the hole, where a rope and a knife were found that have been forensically matched to her bedroom. When first held in the hole, the hole was covered with boards and dirt on top of the boards, which would help explain why searchers were not able to find her.

Pretty much undermines the speculation that she would have gone willingly, instead of being kidnapped. Some foolish rumor-mongering idiots now owe her and her family major apologies.

Interesting point:

Elizabeth was initially held in a hole in the ground, covered with boards, and covered with soil.

Therefore even though she might have heard someone calling her name, she could not be heard (and would have been afraid to cry out knowing that her abductor was nearby).

Again, this is something that had not been previously known, which casts more mud on the reputations of those who continue to insist that she was complicit in her own kidnapping based on (among other things) her not calling out during the search.

More facts will come out. eventually it will be understood why she wasn't able to escape.

Not that I expect some of the more outrageous rumor-mongers to let up. But I also don't expect the Ricki Lake show to go off the air anytime soon.

I think that the DA should go for "Life". If any case deserved it this one did.

Note to all those "Elizabeth didn't try to escape; there's something we aren't being told" chorus members here: Elizabeth was BOUND, GAGGED, AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED MULTIPLE TIMES in the days following her abduction.

She was put in a hole in the ground with little food or water, and apparently allowed to soil herself right there where she lay in the filth.

I want you to tell me that you, at 14 years of age, would have been of sound mind and ready to play hero after two months of that.
