I think that the DA should go for "Life". If any case deserved it this one did.

She was put in a hole in the ground with little food or water, and apparently allowed to soil herself right there where she lay in the filth.

I want you to tell me that you, at 14 years of age, would have been of sound mind and ready to play hero after two months of that.

what this poor girl has gone thru and yet NOT ONE ADULT of the smiling and lovable Smart family will stand up to protect this girl...not one....

...their idea of compassion is to make a movie of Elizabeth's nightmare, so she can relive it again and again and so the whole world will know of her tragedy....

yeah...that shows so much love and respect for that kid, doesn't it....

I am just wondering who out there really loves that girl, because the adults around her seemingly don't give a damn what happens to her....

Agree with you Illbay. This poor child. May God bless her with an incredible life from this point on for this terrible struggle she has been through.
