American b-52 bombers involved in training flights over the North were out in force again yesterday.

Two of the 14 long-range bombers stationed at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire took off yesterday morning and flew for three hours.

The aircraft are believed to have been involved in exercises over Northumberland on Friday.

Security at the RAF base has been stepped up following break-ins by peace protesters.

Two of those involved have been charged with damaging a number of B-52 support vehicles.

Margaret Jones, 54, of Bristol and Arthur Milling, 57, of Birmingham, were taken into custody after their arrest by Ministry of Defence police on Thursday.

They are both charged with conspiracy to commit damage, criminal damage and aggravated trespass.

Fellow members of the protest group Trident Ploughshares claim the pair cut brake cables, slashed tyres and put sugar in the fuel tanks of vehicles used to carry B-52 bombs.

A spokesman said: "In total, some 30 to 35 vehicles were damaged, many of them severely."

And the next time they take off will be for more than three hours.

Sounds like the Brits ought to authorize leathal force on scumbags as we have done in the US. Nothing like a couple dead crows hung on the fence to deter others!

"Nothing like a couple dead crows hung on the fence to deter others!"

That's a fine analogy. In fact, if you kill a crow in the presence of others, generations of crows thereafter will leave you alone.

In India we call it "monkey on a stick". On banana plantations, the monkees can eat up the whole plantation if allowed. They kill the first monkee to trespass, and stick his head on a stick at the perimeter. Vwalla! NO TRESPASSERS!
