Procter & Gamble will not support our troops (Vanity)

Posted on 03/15/2003 5:04:30 AM PST by LuLuLuLu

Cincinnatians know that there was a Support our Troops rally sponsored by local radio station WKRC on Wednesay, March 12 on Fountain Square. Many people also know that Cincinnati is the home of Procter & Gamble, and that the worldwide headquarters is just one block away from Fountain Square.

Although we couldn’t attend, the local media here reports that many grass roots organizations and local businesses were distributing literature outlining items in short supply overseas. P&G manufactures all of the products that follow, many of which could be used by our troops. However, it was stated by a number of callers to WRKC Friday morning that P&G will not support the troops, saying that if they did they would have to support everything.

This is the same company that makes sizable donations to Guatemala, Afghanistan, France, China and Malaysia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, and Japan to name a few. (Source: P&G 2002 Contributions Report, available online at www.pg.com) The worldwide contributions are worthwhile, but supporting our troops and the freedom we enjoy should be paramount.

Obviously, P&G will support everyone but our service personnel.

We have a number of the following products in our house and would like to organize an effort to return the products to P&G with the message that they’ve lost our business forever. Anyone want to join us?

Ooops, should have been a < /sarcasm > after the moon comment.

My point was that P&G is probably already selling those items to DoD and it was unrealistic to expect them to give it away.

I suspect our armed forces have everything they need, logistics may sometimes fail to get everything needed into the right hands. Civilians sending goods through APO boxes fullfills a need for a back door supply line.
