TO MY FELLOW CHRISTIANS: THE FLAG IS AN IDOL!
Flag Or The Cross? ^
Posted on 03/14/2003 8:03:57 PM PST by LalahLand
I am curious to find out why some of my fellow Christians still recite the pledge of allegiance. When you "pledge your allegiance" to an inanimate object you are basically worshipping that object. Am I missing something here? Why do some of us choose to salute and break one of the most important commandments? Shouldn't our pledge of allegiance be to God, and not a piece of cloth? The pledge of allegiance to the flag basically states that we will (blindly) support the flag and the actions of our government without question. That is the very essence of what idolatry is all about! Please check out the attached article.
idol SYLLABICATION: i·dol PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: dl KEY NOUN: 1a. An image used as an object of worship. b. A false god. 2. One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.
idolatry SYLLABICATION: i·dol·a·try PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: -dl-tr KEY NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. i·dol·a·tries 1. Worship of idols. 2. Blind or excessive devotion to something.

Please explain how I'm an idiot. Is it because I choose to think outside the box? no, it's because you are an idiot who can't think outside the box.

I AM YOUR FLAGI was born on June 14th, 1777.
I am more than just cloth shaped into a design.
I am the refuge of the World's oppressed people.
I am the silent sentinel of FREEDOM.
I am the emblem of the greatest sovereign nation on earth.
I am the inspiration for which AMERICAN PATRIOTS gave their lives and fortunes.
I have led your sons into battle from VALLEY FORGE to the bloody swamps of VIET NAM.
I walk in silence with each of your HONORED DEAD,
to their final resting place beneath the silent WHITE CROSSES, row upon row.
I have flown through PEACE and WAR, STRIFE and PROSPERITY, and amidst it all I have been respected.
My RED stripes...symbolize the blood spilled in defense of this glorious nation.
My WHITE stripes...signify the burning tears shed by Americans who lost their sons.
My BLUE field...is indicative of God's Heaven under which I fly.
My STARS...clustered together, unify 50 States as one, for GOD and COUNTRY.
"Old Glory" is my nickname, and proudly I wave high.
Honor me, respect me, defend me with your lives and your fortunes.
Never let my enemies tear me down from my lofty position,
Lest I never return.
Keep Alight the FIRES of PATRIOTISM,
strive earnestly for the SPIRIT of DEMOCRACY.
Worship Eternal God and keep His commandments, and
I shall remain the bulwark of PEACE and FREEDOM for all mankind.
I am your flag.
Compliments of Colonel Daniel K. Cedusky, USAR, Retired.

If you pledge your allegiance to your wife, is she an idol? Is she a god? Are you a pagan polytheist?

TO MY FELLOW CHRISTIANS: THE FLAG IS AN IDOL!
Only if one worships it as G-d. In its place, what the flag represents and respect for it is not antithetical to Christian teaching at least, though it may be so to the teaching of Russellites.

Speak for yourself.
Daniel et al were taught all the wise man stuff of Babylon. Doesn't that stike you as at least interesting. Yet somehow, Daniel was never guilty of idolatry or violating God's will.
I don't think God would have a lot of respect for someone who wasn't willing to support and protect their own country.
There may be people who worship the flag though I've never heard of nor met any of them.
The Flag to me represents our essence, our best and our standards of Freedom etc. . . . along with our right to exist.
Yes, I'm also a citizen of God's green earth in a sense.
But more, one could say I'm a citizen of the Heavenly Kingdom. I'm clear about my priorities, loyalties etc. God knows that.
A man untrue to himself is a miserable hollow shell.
A man untrue to his family is worse than an infidel.
A man untrue to his community is selfish at best.
A man untrue to his State probably has little care or appreciation for the lessons of history.
A man untrue to his country threatens his own safety and livelihood and is fit for no support nor loyalties by much of anyone.
A man untrue to God is doomed.
Of course, IMHO.

You are in la la land. Love and honor and pride of one's country is good, therefore of God. We are to obey the laws of our land, it is clear throughout the Holy Bible.
If 'one' were to follow your ideals, you being on the computer right now staring at your computer screen is worshipping an idol before God. If you put socks on your feet it is putting your warm feet before you think of God. Do you see how your logic is warped, or are you just disrupting with your nonsense?
