"To be shamed by anyone is one of the worst things that can happen to you in some cultures," he said. "I think we've lost that."

Sadly, I'd have to agree.

The proliferation of cellulite phones has caused not only a decline in truth, but as most of us can readily attest, civility as well. It has also caused an epidemic of unimportant people acting as if they were indispensible to mankind, the 6 oz. of Motorola crazy-glued to their ears at all times and all places. Cellulite phones have long been a fashion accessory, but now USING the phone is the fashion statement. It is required that if you have one, you MUST be ON it at all times.

Of course, the lying is nothing new, it's just EASIER now. Remember stories about various bars/pubs that had Alibi Phonebooths? You dropped in a buck, dialed your call, and then pushed one of several buttons that would create a plausible sonic environment that made it sound as though you were someplace else. One button might be the sounds of a car dealer's service department, and you could say your Benz had broken down. Another might pipe in the sounds of an emergency room, whereupon you could claim that a co-worker got hurt in an accident and you had to help him (her) out.

Now, the Alibi Phonebooth is in the palm of your hand.

My only experience in dealing with other people talking on cell phones is the misperception that one must yell, when talking into the phone. Newsflash: cellphones do not require yelling. I never understood why people were annoyed with other people talking on cellphones, until being in a restaurant and hearing 3 or 4 people yelling into their cellphones like they were news reporters on location in a category 3 hurricane. Just relax and speak in a normal tone.

Lying is a NYC liberal thing, it has nothing to do with cell phones. Liberals are congenital liars by nature. I watched a movie filmed in NYC recently and was disturbed at all the lying. Lying wasn't a subject in the movie, but I couldn't help but notice how often lies were part of the script. It's a way of life for them.

Bruce Weinstein, who has authored four books on ethics, said he produced the film because he was "sick and tired of having to listen to the outrageous things people were saying publicly on their cell phones, many of which were lies.

Yeah, what an ethical outrage. If this kind of stuff gets out of hand, our society might actually allow the dismembering of partially-born viable babies and the production of simulated child porn. I'm glad this guy's on the case.

Millions of people with sentiments just like yours are why partial birth abortion was legal in the first place pal...'hey, it's not my problem.' I will not give it a rest.
