SUPPORT OUR TROOP RALLY, BRUNSWICK,MAINE SATURDAY MARCH 15, WEEKLY RALLY
03.12.03 | myself

Posted on 03/13/2003 9:34:12 AM PST by fight_truth_decay

Saturday there will be a gathering from 4:00 to 5:00 in Brunswick, Maine on Main Street by the gazebo to show our support for our troops and our country. This will be week four of an ongoing weekly event.

Last week an American Bald Eagle circled overhead.

A van with loudspeakers on top will play patriotic music during the event. Again, we will also have sign making materials in case you need them.

Please join us and show your respect for what our troops are doing to protect us and the freedoms we enjoy.

For the last two weeks there have been about 100 of us and the volume of the horns has grown louder as the number of "honkers" has grown.

Location is right down the street from Bowdoin College.

It's only for an hour, come join in.

It does the heart good to see good American folk saluting, in any number of creative ways, our Flag, Country, and the Fine brave Americans willing to defend them!

"Domestic Management" has alternative agenda for this weekend, but I would love to come if I could.

I'd like to bring the video-cam and film some of the interaction between the Rally and Passers - By.

Will that Sound-Truck have CD capability?

It just so happens that "Patriotic" music is high on my list of favorites (I'm listening to some right now) and we have a fair amount of it in our collection.

"The Irish Volunteer" by David Kincaid (who does a lot of the sound track in "Gods & Generals") would be a dandy this close to St. Pattie's Day, don't you suppose? It has some real "Corkers" on it!

Steve Vaus has a stirring rendition of "Star Spangled Banner" and "America the Beautiful" (including the Non-PC verses we don't usually hear)on his "American History" CD, as well as the "Pledge of Allegiance" set to music, which I can get right into at top volume!

We also have some really rousing Martial Fife & Drum Corps CDs if anyone is into that sort of thing.

Anyone from the Yarmouth / Freeport area planning to go & wants to play these (Selected tracks thereof) at the Rally let me know and I'll try to get 'em to ye.

Roll ON!

Meanwhile, rallies were also being held to show support for Bush, and for the military personnel whose lives will be on the line in the event of a war with Iraq.
In Brunswick, the fourth pro-Bush rally in as many weeks was held. Carole Graves, who helped organize the rally, said they have drawn 50 to 100 people each week.
"We support our troops, and we ought to be questioning what Saddam is doing, not what our government is doing," Graves said. "The onus is on him. He's the bad dude. And we don't want our troops demoralized by all the 'anti' rallies going on."
Rallies designed to show support for Bush and military personnel are also planned around the country next weekend. "Stand Up for America" rallies are being planned by Free Republic, a California-based conservative group.
Larry Johnson of Roque Bluffs, which is near Machias, is a Maine member. Johnson said Saturday that the upcoming rallies are a way for Americans who support invading Iraq to balance the voices of those who think war against Iraq isn't necessary.
"There is a really evil person there," he said of Saddam. "Whether or not there's an imminent threat to the U.S., we have an obligation to do something about it. His repression and threats to that region have gone on too long."
