The other night, at their opening for their tour in London, they indicated on stage that they were sad to know/hear that our President was from Texas. Again, it is sad to see and hear yet another "celebrity" announcing that they are ashamed of their President of their Unites States. I just wish we would get over and get back so that these "celebrities" would quit using all of these Grammy, Emmy, own concert "stages" to provide their political saitre.

I wonder if they make money from Karaoke CD's. Savannah is having a Support America rally next Thursday; and I was going to try to find the "Traveling Soldier" karaoke CD so that I could sing it there. But I don't want to put money in their pockets.

Does anyone know if singers make much money from karaoke CD sales??

Here's a reply my friend received from 99.5 "The Wolf" broadcasting out of Dallas: ================= -----Original Message----- From: Hollywood Henderson [mailto:hollywood@995thewolf.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 12, 2003 To: XXXXXXX XXXXXX, thank you for forwarding this article along...I'm sure you know we discussed this during tonight's Hollywood Report. We are all SICK that she would say such a despicable thing. You do not have to worry about turning the station whenever the Dixie Chicks come on, because I have a feeling that we will not be PLAYING them for awhile... HW >>> "XXXXXX" 03/12/03>>> I listen to your station throughout most of the day. However, in light of recent comments made by Natalie Maines against our President, I'll turn the station when the Dixie Chicks' music is played. I've included a URL below for reference. I think her comments were just shameful and in extremely poor taste. I believe that everyone has a right to their opinion. However, I don't think it's appropriate for any of us to voice anti-Presidential sentiment in front of thousands of British citizens while our President is struggling to put an end to terrorist acts like 9/11. As a Texan, I'm "ashamed" of Natalie! http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/reviews/story/0,11712,912236,00.html

Country music and anti-Americanism don't mix.
Well both do have a tendency to glorify ignorance....hehehe.

Did you notice how these pampered entertainment freaks use the foreign press as their mouthpiece?

Next time you get a message that says "Everyone overseas hates us" remember where it started.

I don't agree, but maybe not in the sense you would expect.
The country in country music is a metaphor for unsophisticated
rural America.  To the degree that unsophistication is ignorance,
you are right.  Anti-Americanism in the case of the Dixie Chicks
is a rejection of the belief that we can predict what others will
do to the extent of attacking them before they can do it.  The
ignorance here is in thinking life is that simple.  Straining to tie
the 9/11 attacks to Iraq  is in the service of telling ourselves
that Iraq has already attacked us, so that our predictions look more like
history than hubris.  We're going fishing.  If we catch a fish, ie
smoking guns ties to 9/11, than it was justified.  If not, we'll
think of something else.

It's gone too far to turn back now, so let's roll and get it done.

I believe it's become more than that. There is a certain glorification of being ordinary or "simple". IMO it often crosses the line to an implied denigration of extraordinary achievement.

Regarding karaoke CDs: probably similar to regular CDs, but that's just my opinion.

1 penny is too much to put in their pocket. There are other great tunes out there, it might take some work to find the right one, and to practice a new song - but it would be worth it to deprive them of one additional red cent!

The main reason I was wondering about the Karaoke CDs is because the background music only resembles the original (for the most part)...and the demonstration singers aren't the original singers. It seems to me that the writers would get royalties, but not necessarily the performers.

Do the Dixie Chickens write their own songs? I don't want to give them 1 red cent, but I'd really like to perform this song. If it puts money in their pocket I won't do it...I'll find something else to sing.

This morning my Local Country Station crew said that while they had known of the comments since monday and whiel they appreciate all of the messages that have been sent to them regarding the issue, they are choosing to IGNORE the comments Maines made because HE LIKES THEIR MUSIC and they are just kids, making stupid statements.

You all be sure to Let Neil and Reese at WBCT 93.7 out of Grand Rapids Michigan know that there are KIDS YOUNGER that that loudmouth singer, In the Military Protecting their sorry asses so they can make assinine statements publicly OVERSEAS! (Reese is the one that I believe said we are ignoring it, because we like their music...)

It's a joke when people use the first amendment as an excuse to make irresponsible and cowardly statements. The Dixie Chickens had to go overseas to express their disloyalty and pander to the European audience by badmouthing the American president. They simply don't have the courage to do that before an American audience. If you're such a brave "dissenter", say it to our faces, don't go around our back and backstab us. I'm also amused how they assume their uninformed opinion will change any minds; it only coarsens the public dialogue. The only "wide open spaces" are in the heads of the Dixie Chicks.
