[history]
Front lawns, traditionally the front lines for Minnesota's sign-scattering politicians, have become the latest battleground in the debate over a possible U.S. attack on Iraq.
Just drive down Upper Afton Road in Maplewood to get a sense of it. That's where Brandon Meyer, a 40-year-old electrician who lives across the street from Carver Elementary School, planted a "Liberate Iraq; Support Our Troops" sign two weeks ago. His next-door neighbor, substitute social-studies teacher Rita Brenner, has had her "Say No to War With Iraq" placard up since September.

I am sick of all the "Wage Peace" lawn signs in my bobo neighborhood. Anybody know where I can get a "Liberate Iraq" sign? Even better would be a "Victory!" sign.
To: Martin Tell
Here is the sign that I want to see:
Saddam=Evil
Or
Saddam + Chirac = Terrorist Bliss

Easy. Just trot yourself over to your local sign shop and have them make a water-resistant sign for you. Just tell 'em what you want to say and what color and size. Red or bright blue on white is best. They're not expensive. I order them quite frequently for my homeowners association's various events. Should take less than a week to make them from when you place the order. You can even get the stake or stand from them.

Someone in my neighborhood put up a 7 foot talk monument that is an anti-war tirade (Is that legal in a city park?) ... and lots of homes have "No War" or "Peace" in the windows or lawns. Does anyone have any ideas for slogans besides "Liberate Iraq"?
To: MinuteGal
Good idea. Maybe one of our graphically talented Freepers can come up with a template like they did for "Sore Loserman".

Oops! talk = tall

I like the simple sign Support Our Troops because no one can be offended by that sign. Not that I care if I offend the liberal commies living down the street from me, I just like to confuse them. the ba.t..ds

I live near a bunch of Quakers...so we get to see the old campaign stakes recycled with slip-covered signs featuring a dove and the "War is not the answer" anthem.

These work very well on "Peace" signs.
To: Martin Tell
Why wait on that? The war could be over by then. Signs should be going up right away! Seize the moment!
I'd have one on my front lawn now except for the fact that our community's covenants don't allow front-yard signs.
So, I'll be going over to my local print dude to have a sign made up as a poster for my street-facing window. I like "Liberate Iraq" or "Support Our Troops" for my sign.

"War is not the answer" .
Depends on what the question is.
I suppose we could go with the P. J. O'Rourke-coined slogan from Gulf War I: "Give War a Chance".

Brenner, 56, said she didn't mind when Meyer put up his sign. "He's got First Amendment rights, but I've had my sign up since September because I don't feel we should be part of any armed intervention," she said. "I think France and Germany are right. Too many women and children will be killed and we have a long history of bombing various countries without bringing about democracy or human rights." This sexist peacenik obviously feels we men are second class citizens not worthy of her precious concern.

Looks great! This is what I want. I notice that donations are accepted (no problem is supporting the good work), but the info on where to get the signs references rallies in MN. That's a bit far for me to go (from TN).
Can I contact someone, pay with credit card, etc. for sign to be mailed to me?

How about FUQ IRAQ ?
