ESTRADA FILIBUSTER TO BE PROTESTED AT HILLARY CLINTON FUNDRAISER FOR DEMOCRATIC SENATORIAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE WASHINGTON, D.C. MARCH 11, 2003
When: Tuesday, March 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Corner of Whitehaven Street and Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. (Just down the road from Sen. Clintons mansion on Whitehaven St.)
The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, an independent, grassroots organization, will be holding a demonstration in support of the nomination by President Bush of Miguel Estrada to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia at a fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committees Majority Fund hosted by Senator Hillary Clinton.
Kristinn Taylor, Co-Leader of the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, said, It is obvious that the only reason Miguel Estrada is being denied an up or down vote in the Senate by the Democrats is because they are playing crass racial politics. The Democrats do not want Latinos to see that Hispanic and conservative can lead to success in America.
Instead of celebrating Mr. Estradas realization of the American Dream, Senate Democrats have raised the standards for his confirmation with tactics reminiscent of the Democrat-ruled Jim Crow South. We find it despicable that in the 21st Century the Democratic Party is still standing in front of the courthouse door denying a well-qualified minority his right to a vote.

No need for politics-speak.
Get the message out that the Democrats are just sore losers. It's much easier for people to understand. You can be against Estrada, but be in favor of ending the filibuster. Focus on that-- don't try to convince Democrat senators to support him and don't allow them to make this a referendum on the virtues of his nomination. An email from Mark Dayton to a FReeper focused on Dayton's intention to not support Estrada's confirmation. That's perfectly legitimate. Even though a filibuster is constitutional, pitch a fit over the fact that they are resorting to it.
