Gotta love it when mortals try to explain the deeds of the Lord, AND also think they are so important that He would come back on their watch.

What's the scorecard for this publication's
predictions to date?
Any higher than National Enquirer's?

Baxter adds that he hopes he's wrong Yes, he's wrong. The events in Revelation took place in the first century. They have already happened.
That's why Rev. 1:1 says the events must shortly come to pass . And not shortly as God thinks (1000 years, and all). But shortly as John thinks. The revelation was to John.
Again, Rev. 1:3 says the time is at hand. That means very close.
Again, Rev. 22:10 says the time is at hand.
These events already took place during the lifetime of the people who would read the book in the first century.
Baxter is wrong.

Baxter adds that he hopes he's wrong. He is. He's shamelessly pimping his magazine.

Timing s all wrong. Revelations states definitely that the time of tribulation will be no longer than 7 years. Saddam set those oil wells on fire 12 years ago.

There's gotta be a way to profit from this crap.
I'm just not sure whether I should be short Christians or long serpents.

These people are so tiring. I can think of 2 different people/groups off the top of my head that have been predicting the end of the world for the last 15-20 years. They keep recycling the same crap over and over, inserting different times.

There was similar reasoning about the battle of Megiddo (World War I).
In general, someone is always predicting an apocalypse next week. So eventually someone will be right, but only by accident.

I have only a couple of things to say about this:
No one shall know the day or hour. Period.
Every generation has believed that they had correctly interpreted prophecy yet every generation, including those to whom the prophecy was directed, has been utterly wrong even when it happened right in front of them.
Prophecy isn't there so that we'll really see things coming. It is there to show us that even when we are told what will happen we continue to be blind to it by our own will to see things our own way.

The New Testament was written in the Common Greek of the 1'st century. The Greek word we translate 'Revelation' literally means 'unveiling'.
The first five words of the book, then, are translated, "The Unveiling of Jesus Christ..."
When Jesus has been 'unveiled' to you personally, perhaps you will be qualified to BEGIN to have a conversation and an understanding of what the 'Book of Revelation' is all about. Do some deep study of the entire Old and New Testaments, especially the Psalms and the Prophets, as well as all of the history that surrounds those books, and you might even be ready to graduate from kindergarten.
Throw in service and faithful obedience to Him, and you are beginning to meet the rest of the qualifications of being someone to whom 'the Revelation' is addressed to. (Read Revelation 1:1-3 and you will see what I mean.)
Chapters 1-3 have been playing out for two millenia, but no serious Bible scholar can believe that the rest have begun as yet.
But who knows when they will be.
As Jesus said repeatedly, "Be ready".

It never ceases to amaze me that people want the rapture to happen, during their lifetime. Personally, I would rather be dead, before Christ's return. Why try to push the events of the future, closer to you? Why not just allow them to happen, knowing where your faith stands?
