Preacher Says Iraq War Could Be Apocalypse Now
POSTED: 12:57 p.m. EST March 10, 2003
RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Rev. Irvin Baxter is afraid he's already read about the looming war in Iraq -- in the Bible's book of Revelation.
The editor of Endtime magazine says he's "75 to 80 percent sure" that this would be the sixth so-called "trumpet" judgment of Revelation chapter nine -- a war launched around the Euphrates River that kills one-third of mankind.
Baxter adds that he hopes he's wrong.
But he speculates that the fifth trumpet judgment, in which the smoke of a great furnace darkens the sun, may have been fulfilled during the Gulf War when Saddam Hussein set oil fields ablaze.

Gotta love it when mortals try to explain the deeds of the Lord, AND also think they are so important that He would come back on their watch.

What's the scorecard for this publication's
predictions to date?
Any higher than National Enquirer's?

Baxter adds that he hopes he's wrong Yes, he's wrong. The events in Revelation took place in the first century. They have already happened.
That's why Rev. 1:1 says the events must shortly come to pass . And not shortly as God thinks (1000 years, and all). But shortly as John thinks. The revelation was to John.
Again, Rev. 1:3 says the time is at hand. That means very close.
Again, Rev. 22:10 says the time is at hand.
These events already took place during the lifetime of the people who would read the book in the first century.
Baxter is wrong.

Baxter adds that he hopes he's wrong. He is. He's shamelessly pimping his magazine.

Ok, I will bite where in the world did you get this bit of information, that Revelations has already happened?
The book Revelations means to be revealed.
Revelation 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.
11 Saying "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and what thou seest, write in a book , and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea."
If you look at a map these churches symbolize a circle that represents churches that cover the globe today.
John was brought in Spirit to the Lord's Day and that day has not happened yet.

Can't happen yet. The Rapture has not happened yet to take the believers of Christ out. The Holy Spirit has not lifted His protection from this world yet; when He does, all hell will break loose. The Anti-Christ will come on the scene and 3 years of Peace and then 3 years of hell on earth.
Apparently the Preacher doesn't know how to read prophsey. Daniel, Isaiah, Revelation.

Timing s all wrong. Revelations states definitely that the time of tribulation will be no longer than 7 years. Saddam set those oil wells on fire 12 years ago.

The rapture as you believe is not going to happen. The rapture doctrine is totally dispelled in Ezekiel 13:17
Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy People, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them,
18 And say, 'Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls!
19....
20. Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; 'Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
Our Heavenly Father is not too happy with this "rapture" business, He says He is against it.

Yes, he's wrong. The events in Revelation took place in the first century. Indeed - unless you subscribe to the idea of prophetic duality; the same event twice, once on regional scale and once on a worldly scale (ie history repeating itself, and like labor pains getting worse and worse until the end).
