Preacher Says Iraq War Could Be Apocalypse Now

POSTED: 12:57 p.m. EST March 10, 2003

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Rev. Irvin Baxter is afraid he's already read about the looming war in Iraq -- in the Bible's book of Revelation.

The editor of Endtime magazine says he's "75 to 80 percent sure" that this would be the sixth so-called "trumpet" judgment of Revelation chapter nine -- a war launched around the Euphrates River that kills one-third of mankind.

Baxter adds that he hopes he's wrong.

But he speculates that the fifth trumpet judgment, in which the smoke of a great furnace darkens the sun, may have been fulfilled during the Gulf War when Saddam Hussein set oil fields ablaze.

It never ceases to amaze me that people want the rapture to happen, during their lifetime. Personally, I would rather be dead, before Christ's return. Why try to push the events of the future, closer to you? Why not just allow them to happen, knowing where your faith stands?

Not so, man says it is about Rome, the Word does not, Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21 all tell where the action will be, none other than Jerusalem.

Jerusalem, our Heavenly Father's most favorite place on earth Check out the whole chapter of Ezekiel 16.

We are told to watch and the place to watch is Jerusalem.

Paul said "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world (ages) come.

That's right, but such admonitions are most *inconvenient* in this day and age. As far as the "Church is Israel" crowd goes, they are surely correct, in an ironic sort of way. As in, Ezekiel 16 and 23, a bill of divorce ("apostasion") issued for the cause of adultery, judgment begins at the House of God, etc. The daughters of Zion will get a bath. See Isaiah 4. The Philadelphian church is the church of brotherly love. Ezekiel 37 and...

Genesis 43:33-34 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another. And he [Joseph] took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.

He's not heavy, he's my brother...

There is only one day through out the old and new that refers to the Lord's Day, "in that day", "on that day", it is not taking about Sunday school, John was brought forward to that day yet to come.

Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto His servant John,

2Who bare record of the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Must read and hear the words of this prophecy to know what "time" is that is at hand. Christ says that "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:

One must fully understand Genesis to be able to understand Revelations, they compliment one another, from the Tree of Life in the Garden to the King of Kings in Revelation.

Oh, but the churches, the named churches cover a circle in the land mentioned, each church is told what they do and believe and only two are without fault the rest are told what their problems are.

This is symbolic of churches circling the globe at this very time. Christ's own words, "He that hath an ear, let him hear that the Spirit saith unto the churches:
