Brea opposition to Anti-War protestors gets reinforced by Vietnam Veterans of America

08 March, 2003 - Brea, California

Citizens opposing the Brea Anti-War protestors are reinforced by members of the Orange County Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America

Brea Anti-War Protestors arrive Saturday to find "their" corner already occupied by citizens Supporting Our Troops and Commander In Chief.

Members of the Orange County Chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America were among the citizens that the Anti-War protestors found themselves opposing.
Major Bill Mimiaga, USMC (ret) is the President of Orange County Chapter 785 of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

In addition to his role as chapter president, Major Mimiaga is a Special Education Teacher at William Logan Stephens Middle School in Long Beach.

"It's great to see people out here in support of our guys - it feels good", he said.
Other Veterans Joining Major Mimiaga were:

John Paton, USMC - Long Binh, 1970-72

Dave Endler, 101st Airborne Quang Tri, Phu Bai, 1970-73

Jose P., Fullerton, CA - US ARMY, Nga Trang, 1970

Ray G. - Navy U.S.S. Epperson DDE719, Korea, 1952-53

USMC

2nd Lt, Alex Duvas, USMC - Active duty

Anti-War activist Kimberley Claytor, a science teacher at Estancia High School in Costa Mesa, engages Lt. Duvas in debate.

Lt. Duvas appeared to be unmoved by the opposition's arguments.

An officer and a gentleman - he was notably patient, restrained, and articulate as he explained his, and his fellow marines, unwavering support for the Commander In Chief.

"Hooah" For Lt. Duvas.

I was proud of both sides as they engaged each other in debate that was, for the most part, peaceful.

Shown here are David Endler and Anti-War protestor Marcus Running Deer. Though they disagree vehemently regarding the war, they both agree that each side has the right and the freedom to express their opinion.

Marcus Running Deer is a 48-year-old Vietnam era Air Force veteran.
The Anti-War group did eventually become the primary occupant of their corner.
Occasionally, members of the Anti-War group would cross the street and stand among the Pro-American group.

This contact led to a dialog being carried on between members of the two groups.

The dialog described above seemed to be a constructive and preferable alternative to hurtling insults across the street at each other.

Perhaps an inability to communicate contributes to being, as this Anti-War protestor's T-Shirt says, "addictedtowar".

And, finally, some choose to communicate via the symbols that they wear.
Hair jell $15.00
Nazi Stormtrooper Boots $200.00
Punk Cammo Pants $40.00
Punk Cammo Top $40.00
Punk T-Shirt $15.00
Various Tattoos and piercings $50.00+

The freedom to stand on a street
corner and display it all -
secured by the blood of American Patriots.
Priceless

Thank you so much. I grew up in Brea (left nine years ago), and it is nice to see the Pro-American crowd. Made me both homesick and proud. BOHS 78.

Here is what should be done:

DURING THE MASSIVE WELCOME HOME CEREMONIES FOR VICTORIOUS AMERICAN TROOPS IN SO MANY CITIES, TOWNS AND VILLAGES IN THE SUMMER, (WHEN AMERICA IS A SEA OF AMERICAN FLAGS AND THE WHOLE COUNTRY WILL WITNESS AN OUTBURST OF PATRIOTISM RIVALING POST-SEPT. 11), PRINT UP 'RE-CALL PETITITION FLYERS' SHOWING ANY CITY COUNCILMAN'S NAME AND PHOTO WHO VOTED FOR THESE THINGS. PASS THEM OUT IN THE RALLIES AND GET PEOPLE TO SIGN, AND RE-CALL EVERY LAST ONE OF THESE OFFICE-HOLDERS!

YOU WILL EASILY GET HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF SIGNATURES

Politically threaten them, even today by phone, IN ADVANCE, with this action. Let them take the gamble on their political careers.

Remember.

Take Names.

Act.

I can think of many US cities that recently are passing 'anti war' and 'pro peace' resolutions. The cities are not necessarily leftist. What they don't know is that the backlash will swing the other way. As I said, an officehold who signs on to Anti American action in the form of thise local government resolutions, should be targeted by us in a massive, grassroots, across-the-land movement in summer. We could throw HUNDREDS out of office, once our victorious boys and girls come home from Iraq!

Heavy Duty BS Alert!

If Mr. Running Deer is 48, that makes him born in 1955. Even if he enlisted in USAF on 18th birthday, that means he wasn't on active duty until 1973. Last US troops left Vietnam on March 28, 1973. So, Mr. Running Deer could not have completed basic training and advanced training and been deployed anywhere by that date. In addition, bet the whole story is BS.

If anyone can get his SSAN, his DD 201 is public information. In addition, with a name like Marcus Running Deer, bet it wouldn't be too hard to find by a simple name search. It's not like John Smith or Fred Jones.

I hate scammers. (Bet he will claim that his "mission was so secret that records were never kept!")

Thank you all so much for standing up for America and our military troops. You are an awesome looking group. Mid Missouri Patriots (Infinite FReepers - Columbia MO) salute you. All you have to remember is that truth and logic will always overcome "feelings" from the left.

In addition, Mr. Running Deer doesn't look like any Indian I ever saw. Very light skin, medium brown hair, low cheek bones, an Ank, etc. Looks a lot like my accountant, Sol Schwartzman, but certainly not a Mr. Running Deer!

Thank you for posting this. I LOVE IT! My daughter (Torrey student at Biola University) was driving by that corner when the two groups were mingled. In wonderment and excitement the girls in the car described the scene to me(the marvels of cell phones demonstrated here). She read the sign "Anarchists against the war." Having figured out the obvious of where the anti war representatives came from, she was in awe of the pro war freedom fighting patriots mingled among them. I immediately pursued a search at FreeRepublic knowing some of you freedom fighters must have been there. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Also, (I believe this might fall under Vanity), I live on what has become a busy artery in a liberal town on the North Shore of Chicago (locals and commuters pass by). I have a 20 X 4 ft banner that I pledge to hang. I am looking for the best words to paint on it in support of our President Bush (I am grateful to God for this man), our troops, our freedom, and on. I covet your input!

God Bless America!

If you're looking for ideas, do an FR search on "operation infinite freep". You're bound to get lots of good ideas from freep report pictures. Here's a winner:

PS Great post. However, IMHO, please drop the "PRO WAR". Please. We need to drop that tag. They will put it around our heads like a millstone!

Follow up on the semantics here, too. They (the leftist scum) are not "ANTI WAR". That has been proven as they never opposed Clinton's military actions.

They are "ANTI AMERICAN" and "ANTI BUSH". We need to get these terms clear. The battle can be won or lost, or advanced greatly, by the use of 'labels.' The libs currently have the upper hand.
