WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Alice Walker, author of the novel "The Color Purple," and 26 others were arrested Saturday after marching to the White House to protest a possible war with Iraq.
Walker joined thousands of others who protested war, mostly peacefully, in dozens of cities around the world, as the United States continued its diplomatic push toward invading Iraq.

I saw this on Fox. I believe one who was arrested was the odious Medea Benjamin.

Yep, I believe she was also accessorizing with plastic handcuffs this afternoon. When I saw her on TV, her hands were behind her back; I couldn't see the cuffs, but everyone else around her had them, so... They were all grinning from ear to ear, so I'm pretty sure they got arrested on purpose.
The DC Chapter were there to freep the big pink circus sideshow. The Raelian women were no-shows, though.

"The Raelian women were no-shows, though." I've heard their are certain cells within the Raelian movement that are dividing amongst themselves...#8-)

In New York, hundreds of demonstrators marched from Union Square down Broadway to Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village. It was organized partly by The ANSWER Coalition, which helped organize widespread anti-war rallies last month.I didn't hear a WORD about this.
But it's nice to only have "hundreds" here, for a change.

This, once again, points emphatically at our need to go do this thing sooner rather than later. Let's roll already, no more UN, no more inspections, no more peace rallys.

My husband was quite impressed that I could point her out and give her background! He thinks I am the omnipotent computer woman! LOL!
Poor Alice Walker probably got maneuvered into being arrested. The next step will be for Medea to start a big stink about how they were unlawfully arrested, conditions at the DC jail, demand a public trial, etc. etc.

Last weekend hundreds of thousands of S.Koreans rallied for US in Seoul...a bigger rally than the biggest anti-US rally in NY, London or DC. Where was CNN?
E-mail CNN
Most Americans will never rally because it goes against their civilized upbringing. They see masses of unappealing fellow Americans littering the streets, yelling at the police who risk their lives daily, they see foreigners and spoiled children without a clue supporting terrorists who helped murder over 3000 innocent civilians on 9-11 and condemning US...they see our mainstream press promote these spoiled children as noble and mainstream. They take care of their families and businesses, listen, prepare, wait. They are the majority of Americans. Their vote is being ignored. They are watching as you choose Joe the village liar over an American hero again and again, CNN.

I saw this on Fox. I believe one who was arrested was the odious Medea Benjamin. I love that word - first time I heard it used was G. Gordon Liddy describing Strobe Talbott during the (ptui!) Clinton years. His inflection - "the OOOhhhdious Strooobe Talbott"! added to the effect .
As far as Medea Benjamin, what a piece of work she is. I recently saw an article that described her as a "52-year-old mother of two". (They didn't mention what the "two" were.)
To: Inspectorette
If they're boys, and have read their mythology, they should be terrified of Mom. Medea isn't her real name, she took it of her own free will.

Other rallies took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Manchester, Connecticut. That's all they wrote, but it's a mention...
Celie!! Get me a lemonade!!

I was looking for a report yesterday but didn't see it on the sidebars.
Thanks, hope it went well.
