Steve Doocey said on Fox this morning that he had just gotten off the phone with Mansoor Ijaz, the Pakistani-born American who has excellent connections to Pakistan, and that Ijaz said that the info they are extracting from the Sheik means that we are days, if not "hours," away from capturing OBL. They have traced his movements; they know where his wives & some kids are (Iran, where they are being "protected"), and think OBL even slipped out of the country and went to Bali prior to that bombing, traveling mostly by water.
Further, last night on O'Reilly, Ijaz also said that he has no doubt that we are using "whatever means necessary" to extract info from the Sheik. O'Reilly said "including torture?" Ijaz said, "Yes."

What are we going to do with OBL when we catch him? Is he going to get a trial?
To: mhking
Ya know? I see this guy on Fox and think, "What an intellegent fellow. He sure knows his way around." And, "Dang, he is connected, he has information that no one else seems to be able to get."
Then I reflect on that and say, to myself, "Am I seeing a masterful huckster at work."
There is just something nagging at me about him. I want to beleive what he is putting out but then I kind of pull back from it. Some times he is just a hair too slick.

A few days ago Ijaz had a good explanation for UBL's reluctance to be video taped. He pointed out the change in appearance of K S Mohammed and said that UBL probably also looks different from his old tapes and does audio now to keep his new appearance unkown.

Until proven otherwise, I will continue to celebrate December 17 as Osama's Death Day.
Begin with a rack of BBQ ribs. Pork, of course.
Serve them on a table decorated with scattered daisy petals to remind everyone of all those daisy cutters.
After dinner, serve Devil's food cake all around...on behalf of the old devil.
You get the idea.
As for this letter being in "his style" ... anyone can assemble a screed his style by using his other screeds as dark inspiration.

IF HE'S ALIVE: I tend to agree that he has substantially changed his appearance. Just cutting his beard would create an image of "submission" to his followers. It's an important part of his image and authority.
Remember that after his last video, his own complained that he looked terrible. What must he look like now.
IF HE'S DEAD: I believe he was at least wounded at Tora Bora and the last tapes, almost back to back, with their hidden messages told HOW & WHAT he eventually died from.
It's likely what got this latest batch of big boys caught. They would have to re-structure themselves and get the messages around. They were going to have to report to new leaders.
Just tossing it around.

As I understand it, he is incredibly connected to some people in Pakistan. Hey, all I know is that he has been 100% RIGHT ON in everything I have ever heard him say, and for a couple of months he has said OBL was alive; that he either had disfiguring wounds or had some plastic surgery; and that he was living in Karachi (a city of 15 MILLION) where even he could "blend in."
I would love to think OBL is dead, but like I say, Ijaz's track record so far has been better than Warren Buffet's.

You are wise. We are inundated with news reports from countless sources, some are named, many are not. (Freepers probably digest fifty times more news than the average citizen.) The courts recently handed down a decision allowing the media to lie to us. It becomes harder and harder to determine who to believe.

Care to point out specifically where he has "been wrong a couple of times?" I only recall that once he said he had "heard" two different stories of why OBL didn't show his face. But I haven't seen him "wrong" on anything yet.

Of course he will get a trial. Just like the Queen of Hearts! Verdict first, trial later! And it will be completely "fair."

But I wouldn't be surprised if Khalid is blabbing his head off. He's the typeWhat makes you think he is "the type" to blab his head off? On what do you base that opinion?

If he's alive, we'll gettim.
If he's dead, we gottem.

Sounds like we're getting close to mounting an op to capture or kill bin Laden.
Suggestion: Call it Operation Lanphier - after the guy who brought justice to the architect of Pearl Harbor.

From what the "experts" have been saying, including James Dunnigan, who is a pretty reliable war/terrorism expert, they can make you give up almost any info they want. Dunnigan pointed out, moreover, that these Arab guys are NOT well trained like the former KGB people in resisting these "techniques." Course, my favorite is the interrogation scene from "Payback." Does anyone think this is out of the question?

Ijaz is awesome -I put a lot of trust in what he says. Can you imagine the celebrations Americans will have when we get UBL??? What a feather in the cap for GWB- and a great catalyst to begin the bombing in Iraq.

Well, the only thing that troubles me about this is that this is Steve repeating what HE says Ijaz said. Sometimes things get lost in the translation.
I've seen Ijaz on TV many times and he has always struck me as a straight shooting kind of guy. Hard to say though..I guess I'll like him till he proves me otherwise. He does seem to be very well connected in Pakistan.
I also think (thought) OBL was dead so personally don't think he will be captured (and hope he is still dead!)

When your hideout is stormed at 2:00AM while you are sleeping, it is difficult to keep from being taken alive. I am sure he has a couple of bodyguards with him, but they too can be quickly neutralized before having a chance to react.Himmler actually surrendered to British authorities and remained in custody for several hours. When he realized there would be no negotiations--as he expected--he broke a cyanide capsule that it is believed had been in his mouth the whole time. Goering had a cyanide capsule smuggled to him and used it to cheat the hangman.
Also, UBL is believed to be more levelheaded and focused than KSM, and would have the discipline to at least have a sentry posted.
