San Diego Detective Aids In Laci Peterson case

SAN DIEGO DETECTIVE AIDS IN LACI PETERSON CASE

(03-04-2003) - A private investigator from San Diego made an unusual discovery in Northern California that just might help police in their search for missing Modesto woman, Laci Peterson.

Bill Garcia spotted a chunk of cement by a waterway near Modesto.

“It was interesting because it was the only patch of cement we saw in about 20, 30 miles stretch. And there was a tire track through it,” said Garcia.

Last week, the couple who sold a boat to Laci's husband Scott, said cement residue in the boat wasn't there when they owned it.

Regardless of who might be responsible, Garcia, along with the help of a private field engineer, have made it their mission to find Laci, with no guidance from Modesto Police of Laci’s family.

“Her family needs to know what happened,” said Garcia. “Whether she’s out there and someone’s holding her or whether she’s no longer with us, and we bring her home, or we help in bringing her home.”

Recently, Garcia helped in the search for Danielle van Dam, and also tracked down Phillip Salcedo, the armored car driver accused of stealing money in January.

I'm gonna take a break & catch up from last nite. Curious to see if Tex was at it late again.

Sometimes to really appreciate the difference between commonly misused terms it helps to use an example for the cement vs. concrete difference: "flour is to bread as cement is to concrete," in other words you wouldn't make a sandwich out of flour and similarly you would not have a "cement" driveway.
Sometimes reporters lack technical accuracy. The cable news report that I saw had put up on the screen, a photo of a pre-mix concrete when they were describing what they thought they found (empty bags?) at SP's home or warehouse. (this was a while ago).
Bucket anchors? for such a small boat? Who wants to carry around chunks of concrete anchor in such a small vessle when it's so much eaiser to stow a small-boat anchor?
SP is a golfer--maybe they should check some of the lakes at the larger golf courses in the area?

Sorry for the late response. Crows Landing Rd runs north and south and intersects with I-5 near Crows Landing, CA.

Yes, I lived out in that area for years. It goes N & S until it intersects with Fink Rd. Going East/West and connecting to I-5 then to 132.
My point is, right before it connects to Fink Rd. it is very remote and very close to the San Joaquin river, Oreistemba Creek, and two TID canals earlier on.

Well, since you mentioned the thing about concrete vs. cement, there's been a new article posted about what was found. Turns out Garcia found it on the bank of the Delta-Mendota Canal. This is, according to earlier articles, a favorite dumping place. They've even found whole vehicles in it.

Suppose someone dumped, or lost, a half-filled bag of cement powder, on a damp canal bank. Then suppose something, such as vehicle tires, ran over the pile of cement powder, pressing it into the damp bank. Could that result in a patch of concrete, as the mush of water and cement powder mixed?

If I ever need a private detective I won't be calling this guy.

He's not available anyway, he is on OJ's payroll. Very busy finding those real killers.

Oh, goody--slush next week!

Well, I know the kids are hoping the tractor gets fixed soon! We know how disappointed they'd be if there were no one to clear the roads and they couldn't get to school.

The heck with their opinion! You can bet every parent in the district is hoping for the snow to get plowed, and for the kids to be in school!

I had the tractor fixed before they ate their Wheaties. I was lucky, was just a broken chain, some of my fellow maintainance-poeple had major breakdowns. I'm just hoping for a break in the snow so I can catch up here and with some zzz's tonite! Hoping for no snow days this year, almost making it till spring...fingers crossed.
jumping over to new thread.....
