VANITY - Any SUV owners sick of being picked on?
Me ^ | BB2

Posted on 03/01/2003 8:47:08 PM PST by BB2

Sorry in advance for the rant, but if any of you freedom loving folks are gettin' tired of being picked on for driving an SUV, and think you might like to strike back for a change.... I have an Idea.

I was just surfing the net and wound up on this website,

http://www.moles.org/ProjectUnderground/campaigns/suv.shtml

It's by a group of greenie weenies that are offering free "tickets" for other greenie weenies to put on all of our gas guzzling SUV's as a protest. Ain't dat special?

I think all of us freepers should order as many of these "tickets" as we can get, then toss em, or use em to start a nice warm "weenie" roastin' fire! Not only would we strike back by making them waste their time and money printing and shipping this crappola out to us, but we'd be giving them a warm "fuzzy" feeling inside thinking they have reached so many like-minded weenies!

Frankly, I couldn't think of a better vehicle for me to drive. I live 13 miles from my work, over country back roads, in North Western OHIO. And this year I've had to use my 4 wheel drive a lot! I also do most of my own home repair, remodeling, landscaping, gardening, and I've had to haul everything, wood, stone, gravel, appliances, furniture, tools, and so much more, on a fairly regular basis. I don't just use my lil' Chevy Blazer 4X4 for tooling around. Plus, I feel safer with my family riding in a vehicle that has a better chance of surviving an accident, because it actually has a frame under it! Maybe ya'll can afford 2 vehicles, one for utility use, and another for everyday driving, but I can't. So I drive what's best for ME. I don't think it's anybody's !@$#$^!%#^&%^*% business WHAT I drive!

If these bozo's want to send me some handy dandy fire starters, why not take em up on it?

By the way weenies, what about all those poor lil' innocent trees you're destroying to make the cards? How un-P.C. of ya'll! It may be "legal", but if I would happen to catch one of 'em plastering my vehicle with this crap, I'd most definetely show him another "innovative" location to stuff a few of 'em!

While driving at the low end of the speed limit on an interstate highway, my wife was hit by three trucks traveling at high speed. The first crashed into her from behind and knocked her into the second, which was passing her. The collision spun her around, and the third truck crashed into her and knocked her off the road. She emerged without a scratch. She was driving a Suburban. If she had been in a conventional car, she would have been killed. I'm going to keep her in Suburbans!

All of my quality aging vehicles get the same gas mileage. I have an S-15 Jimmy, Cadillac ElDorado and a Chevy Astro. The weakest member in an accident would be my Jimmy a/k/a/ evil battering ram SUV. I also cannot exist without a vehicle that holds six people a/k/a my family.

I have a similar story with a Ford Explorer although not half as bad....but, I probably would have been thrown into oncoming traffic if I'd been driving our other car - a Honda Accord. (I was hit TWICE, while stopped for a light.) PLUS....It's for the CHILDREN! SUV haters are just jealous and mean.

HERE's THERE PRECIOUS LITTLE PIECE OF WORK.....

SUV Ticket Campaign Tips and Instructions

Conflicts around the world are fueled by society’s dependence on oil. When White House officials say we have vital interests to protect in the Middle East, what they mean is we have oil interests to protect. To feed our addiction to oil, US policy makers have overthrown elected governments (Iran in 1953), supported repressive monarchies and dictatorships (Saudi Arabia continuously since the 1940s, and Iraq in the 1980s), and given arms to governments linked to human rights abuses (Colombia since 2000). These short-sighted policies have come at a terrible cost to peoples around the world. They have also bred a suspicion and distrust of the US.

These SUV tickets are intended to illustrate the links between conflict and oil dependence—to show people that gas-guzzling carries a very high cost. They are targeted at those individuals who, by choosing to drive an SUV, are consuming far more than their fair share of the earth’s natural resources. Our hope is that by showing the connections between oil dependence and conflict we can shift public opinions around our oil consumption. The idea is to make driving a gas-guzzling SUV socially unacceptable.

It’s very simple. Just carry these tickets with you wherever you go, and when you see an SUV, place a ticket under the windshield wipers. If you want to maximize your effort and use many tickets at once, go to a parking garage or a mall parking lot and place the tickets on every SUV you see. Some people have even made ticketing a fun, group effort by creating "ticketing teams" with their friends.

Note that this is perfectly legal. Ticketing involves no property destruction. It is no more invasive than putting, say, a flier advertising a car wash or a dry cleaner on someone’s windshield.

If you have any questions about the tickets, or want to order more, feel free to call 1-800-497-1994 x 230 or write to suvticket@globalexchange.org.
Thank you for helping with this important effort.

Liberals honk at my Discovery at least once a week. I am never sure of the reason. It could be the fact that it is an SUV, the Sons of Confederate Veterans tag, the NRA sticker or the FReeper sticker. I just enjoy ruining their day.

Check out the threads on rural clensing and the Nature Conservancy. What they want is for you to give up the SUV, and move to town and ride mass transit, and that piece of land your living on should be part of a fedgov wildlife preserve.

I gotta '94 Dodge 3/4 4WD Pickup, V-10 (10-14mpg), thank you, and an old POS Isuzu Trooper. My kids and I love to crunch bushes, move trees, and part mud holes like the Red Sea! Come and get them, greenies. You can have my gun, too!

My husband and I have four children (I know. not only do we own a Suburban, but we're adding to the population). If we got two little cars to drive around in we would end up using the same amount of gas, but more oil over all. It never seems to occur to these greenie weenies that some of us actually have bigger families.
Maybe they would get more respect if they actually practiced what they preached.

If they want to come to Texas to try this they better have a lot of paper because we have a lot of SUV. And kevlar vests, they will need plenty of kevlar vests.

Their ranting doesn't bother me. My Jeep Cherokee has saved my life. I went right back out and bought another identical one.

Except the new one is an automatic. It lacks attitude! I can't growl in first gear at those liberals any more!

We'll need someone to calcualate the fuel burned by libs in surfing the web, watching TV, and flying to protests.

I thought they just sat around and read books.

Has anyone ever refused a tow out of mud, snow or sand because you drove a SUV? That has not been my experience and I have been driving a SUV for the past fifteen years.

LOL! Ya got heated seats?

Reminds me of some of the car lists I'm on. People list the things they have on their vehicles. I just purchased a new Chev. Tahoe. It has the heated seats:) Also the XM radio which is very cool. I can listen to FOX and C-span, etc. The On-Star thing is somewhat creepy but the voice recognition features work pretty good.

Cars are fun. These environMENTAL wackos would hate me since I have more cars than I need.
