An hour ago on C-SPAN's "Book TV" uber-puke Eric Alterman went on a semi-coherent tirade about Free Republic.
While in the process of flacking his book..."The Myth of Liberal Bias" (or sumpin like that), he claimed that, during the Florida recount, the saint-like members of this forum posted the phone numbers and home addresses of the Florida Supremes for the expressed purpose of harassment and/or "whatever". The "whatever" was obviously the suggestion of violence.
He also said Free Republic was repsonsible for the flood of Republican activists who descended on the state and therefore was responsible for the Bush presidency.
This is one powerful place, Gumbas. Congratulate yourselves...the left-wing bows to your awesome strength.
The source of his tirade seemed to be his book which might be worth checking out. Just figure out how to do it without actually paying money for it.
Another fact he flung at his tiny, badly-dressed book store audience, was that people came to Free Republic and stayed for 5+ hours, making us an unbeatable force since Liberals suffer from ADD and can't stay with anything longer than the average bowel movement. (I paraphrased that last bit)

Thanks for posting that! You're very funny.

He got so use to the "I feel your pain" administration, he is now in shock and really needs help.
Doesn't he paint a pretty, bright, intelligent picture of the democrat base?
New word for this "ALTERMANISM". State of mind for present day democrats.

He also said Free Republic was repsonsible for the flood of Republican activists who descended on the state and therefore was responsible for the Bush presidency. Then I say GOOD SHOW! Freepers.
To: Deb
Going by the FL Supreme Court rulings, it doesn't sound like there was much "whatever". IF that info was ever posted.

I spotted this guy's book at Barnes and Noble last week on the "New Releases" table. Then I saw it there again yesterday. It looked like the same pile, like nobody had disturbed it.
Anyways, I picked it up and perused it and got bored pretty quickly. Nothing but straw-man arguments and flawed circular "logic". The book is garbage, and a very weak response to the well-documented, impeccable arguments made by the much more gifted writers Bernard Goldberg and Ann Coulter.
This guy Alterman comes from the same liberal germ culture as Joe Conason, Eleanor Clift and Molly Ivins, etc. He's just a bitter, humorless, thoroughly irrelevant little mouse. Take it from me, the book will be in the $4.95 bin in a few weeks. Even then, don't waste your money.
Regards,
LH

As one who (with hundreds of others) FReeped the Broward County Recount on a rainy November, 2000 weekend, I consider Eric's condemnation a great honor.

(I paraphrased that last bit) Paraphrased yes, but it is still the basic truth about Liberals.

I'm flattered Eric Alterman has turned out to be Jim Robinson's secret weapon! :)
To: Deb
It is awesome to wield this much FReeping power!!!
To: magellan
I hope he gave FR a whole chapter. JimRob might get invited to the next state dinner at the White House.

I first saw the power of Free Republic the night CNN was going to allow active Presidential candidate Algore substitute for Larry King. When I called CNN to express my displeasure, you could hear the exasperation in the person's voice. Like he had answered several hundred phone calls.*getting down on knees again* Thank you, Lord, for only making me answer the call-in lines for CNNfn. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
To: Deb
people came to Free Republic and stayed for 5+ hours, That's probably a conservative guess.

Praise God for Jim Robinson, FR, the internet and talk radio. Together, they (and we) are responsible for the Bush presidency. I thank the Lord every day!
alterman and his ilk will soon go the way of the buggy whip.

Who is Eric Alterman and what did he do besides write a book? I don't get out much.

Didn't Alterman's "conservative media" express discomfort over Susan Molanari leaving politics and signing with CBS? Then, this "conservative media" stayed quiet when George Steponallofus signed on with ABC. I wish this "conservative media" of Alterman's would tell me the difference between the two.
