Congress Mulls Probe of Communists' Ties to Appeasement Movement, Radical Islam
NewsMax.com ^ | Feb.28, 2003 | Wes Vernon

See part one of series, "Useful Idiots: Marxists Exploit the Appeasement Movement." Part two: 'Hate-America Leftists' Lead the Appeasement Movement. WASHINGTON – NewsMax.com has learned that preliminary inquiries are or soon will be under way on Capitol Hill exploring the possibility of investigating the link between communists and radical Islamic terrorists. Evidence mounts that this coalition orchestrated the recent appeasement demonstrations against President Bush’s policy in Iraq.

No decisions have been made on whether such a probe will go forward or what committee would be in charge. But conservatives who have seen documented evidence of that link believe now that the GOP controls the House and Senate, there is no excuse for not holding hearings.

A full-scale Senate or House probe is viewed as a means of informing an American public that is kept in the dark by a mainstream media that looks the other way on the hard-left/terrorist alliance.

The biggest question mark is whether the Justice Department, the FBI or other security agencies are paying much attention to the veteran hard-left groups backing the appeasement demonstrations. The fear is these agencies are inadequate because much of their investigative authority was defanged in the 1970s.

The post-Watergate congressional hearings by the Church and Pike committees on Capitol Hill resulted in tarnishing the CIA, FBI and other intelligence entities. That in turn prompted the legislative and executive branches of government to tie their hands. They were even forbidden to keep a file of information readily available to any citizen, such as newspaper clippings on subversive organizations.

Some of the restrictions were lifted after 9/11. For example, now they can clip newspaper stories. Still, the new policies fall short of what is needed, according to security experts talking with NewsMax.com.

The rules “were not changed enough to let the FBI do the kind of work that needs to be done watching these groups,” former congressional and executive branch security official Herbert Romerstein tells us.

When those seven men were caught breaking and entering at the Watergate Hotel in June 1972, little did anyone suspect they had set off a chain of events that years later would cripple America’s ability to protect itself at a time when this nation is under a greater threat than at any time in the memory of most citizens.

On the other hand, well-placed sources in the government have told NewsMax that “someday someone is going to write a book” about all the behind-the-scenes security efforts to protect America since 9/11.

All very assuring, and Attorney General John Askcroft’s efforts to put accused terrorists in the slammer are widely applauded. But it is not known whether the Justice Department, the FBI or any national security, intelligence, or law enforcement agency has focused specifically on the terorrist-communist connection. NewsMax has found no one in government who claims to know one way or the other.

Workers World Party, a tiny Marxist organization that admires North Korea's repressive dictatorship, has coordinated much of the anti-war activity, partly through such fronts as A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), which uses former LBJ Attorney General Ramsey Clark as its public face.

Another key player is United Justice for Peace. Leftist-turned-conservative David Horowitz has identified its leader Leslie Cagan as “a '60s Stalinist.”

In a syndicated column just this week, Mona Charen, author of the timely book “Useful Idiots,” defined A.N.S.W.E.R. as “explicitly communist.” If a journalist can make that identification, observers are asking, what is Congress waiting for? Let’s get this on the record for the American people.

If you read Hitler’s “Mein Kampf,” Horowitz warns, you see “how kooky views can result in the deaths of seventy million people.” Just because the leaders of the appeasement demonstrations don’t make sense “doesn’t mean they are not [dangerous or that they will not] get hundreds of thousands and millions of followers.”

Any Capitol Hill investigation of the hard-left/Islamic terrorist alliance would require a committee chairman and Republican committee members who will stand their ground, because some Democrats on the panel are likely to try to torpedo any meaningful inquiry. That is because, as Horowitz explains to NewsMax, “the Democratic Party is deeply infiltrated and also dependent on these people.”

The “Leslie Cagans of the world” have been organizing at the local level, he adds.

Finally this warning from a man who has viewed the hard left from the inside: “I guess my greatest concern is the complacency of conservatives who think we can’t lose this country. We can.”

Americans have gotten too complacent about communism. After all, the Wall fell and all our enemies became friends, right! We no longer needed Star Wars weapons. Forget about wasting all that money on defense, we could just use it all for socialistic programs and get the people used to having their lives run by the government.

The internet has been a Godsend. People who believe in freedom and rights have made changes in the past decade. I've seen FReepers make such a difference and now we can start informing other people about this. Bring it to the light and it can be defeated.

I doubt if CON-gress actually looks into this since 30% of them are Communists, too.

If they won't maybe us as individual citizens, along with the truly free press members that I know some of us have worked with, should. I know by first hand experience what these creeps are all about. Anyone I've spoken with on this fantasic site will ^. I hate thoughts of horror but everyone needs to prepare for an all out disunity assault by the true leaders of this "peace" movement" when we start receiving grisly images nonstop.

Your very welcome FRiend. This is just so important. Perhaps if we make an issue of this matter, the media will eventually talk about it. And God WILLING, our Congress will look into it also.

God Bless,...Vets

some of us are very interested.

Thank goodness. I just got off the phone with my young (early 30's) nephew. He said he has been sending out things he is finding on these groups to everyone he knows. I told him about them and he started researching on his own.

Now if we can just get SOMEONE/ANYONE in the media to start doing some "investigative" research and reporting!!

Hopefully, very soon, some savvy reporter is going to become the next Bernstien or Woodward and get inside these groups and report how anti-american and dangerous they are!! Perhaps O'Reilly or Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes. I don't know.. I just know it really needs to be exposed.

FRegards, Vets

I hate thoughts of horror but everyone needs to prepare for an all out disunity assault by the true leaders of this "peace" movement" when we start receiving grisly images nonstop.

I just had a conversation not 15 minutes ago with my nephew regarding these groups. I also predicted that they will turn extremely violent when we go into Iraq and the war begins. Unfortunately misguided but innocent people will be out on the streets with them and get hurt too. Many innnocent people will be harmed. Many innocent business owners will be harmed. I happen to think it will have SEVERE economical impacts. Which is all part of the master plan.

Destroying America IS their AGENDA. They are trying to undermine anything to do with American policy. If they win,... we lose BIG TIME. And God protect us all if America is weakened in this way by the enemies of our country. On our own soil no less!!

EX presidents Clinton and Carter are so ignorant as to feed into these groups. It is subversive, seditious, and traitorous to be speaking out during a time our troops are going into harms way and against their Commander in Chief. It is unprecedented for an EX president to speak out against a sitting Presidents policy's period!!

No EX president has EVER done this.. so we have truly hit an all time low with Clinton and Carter.

A tad off the subject, but Turkey is vascilating the way it is, because after the first Gulf War, they were left hanging. They were harmed SEVERELY financially. Well, President Bush was not re-elected. So taking care of our allies fell to whom????

Constantly we are shown ways that the Clinton administration made America and the World a LESS safer place to live.

Lets just pray that someone in the media.. will start to investigate and really look into these groups.. THEN REPORT their findings!!!

We are shocked it hasn't happened yet. It defies logic that groups could organize so WELL and so quickly, and have the money to buss 100's of thousands of anti-war demonstrators in within a month!! Not only here in America.. but around the world.

So why has NO ONE reported on these exceptional organizational skills??

These are dangerous times for America. A time when we MUST stand united. And not with our enemies. Had our Congress and the American people stood more united, I happen to think this whole thing might have already been over. The chances for a safe peaceful resolution, were better if we had all stood together.

But I also think more Americans are BEHIND the President than against him. It is just this very PUBLIC/MEDIA picture that is totally misrepresenting all of us, which makes the headlines.

We didn't see the couple thousand people who showed up to rally in Texas, or the hundreds in other states on tv yesterday did we?

Anyway... I digress. I'm just extremely frustrated and sickened that we have allowed these kinds of groups to march against us in our own country. They are taking advantage of our basic freedoms, then using Non-profit tax status to boot!!! All in an effort to do America harm!!

FRegards, Vets

I am frustrated too. But they are here. They have lived amoung us and enjoyed our freedoms. Seems to me we have to convince them that they can be Americans and believe whatever they want because they ARE free. If we can get them to realize this I think we can actually have the American Communists as a sort of ally in our fight with militant Islamists. I have to believe; its better than the alternative!

PRIORITY#1

A viler evil than to murder a man, is to sell him suicide as an act of virtue. A viler evil than to throw a man into a sacrificial furnace, is to demand that he leap in, of his own will, and that he build the furnace, besides. --Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Sound like anyone we're all familiar with? Like Osama? Or Saddam (by paying $25,000 to families of suicide bombers)?

Priority # 3

World Socialist Web Site and Socialist Equality Party Public Conference Socialism and the Struggle Against Imperialism and War: the Strategy and Program of a New International Working Class Movement The World Socialist Web Site and the Socialist Equality Party are sponsoring a public conference on the weekend of March 29-30, 2003 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The subject of the conference will be “Socialism and the Struggle Against Imperialism and War: the Strategy and Program of a New International Working Class Movement.” The significance and urgency of this conference arise directly from two interrelated developments: (1) the decision of the Bush administration to invade, plunder and colonize Iraq; and (2) the emergence of a massive international movement of social opposition to the war plans of American and British imperialism. Two massive forces stand opposed to each other. As the New York Times has noted with a sense of astonishment: “The fracturing of the Western alliance over Iraq and the huge antiwar demonstrations around the world this weekend are reminders that there may still be two superpowers on the planet: the United States and world public opinion.” To put it more bluntly, the emerging power that confronts American imperialism is not another state, but the masses of ordinary working people all over the world who hate war and oppression in all its forms. But the struggle between these two forces is still an unequal one. While American imperialism and its accomplices are conscious of their interests and goals and will stop at nothing to achieve them, the working class remains as yet without a clear political program on which it can base its struggle for peace, social equality, democratic rights, international solidarity and a better world. The purpose of this public conference is to initiate a serious discussion on the political program that is necessary to build, strengthen and unify the international movement against imperialism and war. In organizing this conference, the World Socialist Web Site and Socialist Equality Party advance the following fundamental political principles as the basis of the discussion: 1. The genuinely mass base for the struggle against imperialism and war is the American and international working class. 2. The great potential strength of the working class can be realized only if it is mobilized independently of and in opposition to the political parties of big business. In the United States, this means, first and foremost, fighting to end the political subordination of working people to the Democratic Party. The working class must build its own political party and fight for power. 3. The struggle against war can be waged systematically and effectively only to the extent that it is directed against the socioeconomic system that produces war—that is, against capitalism and for socialism. 4. The fight against war requires the international unity of the working class. On this basis, we urge readers of the World Socialist Web Site to register for the conference and come to Ann Arbor on March 29-30

They'll never win without code words. They take causes that have almost universal appeal(justce, civil rights, fair treatment of employees, medical care for the poor, freedom of speech, peace, etc.) and bring people along. The attitude that who sponsored ,organized the peace marches is not relevant exposes the thinking.

Everyone, Please read post 92.

It appears there is an organizational meeting March 29-30, 2003 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

MAJOR ALERT PING!!! If anyone has media connections PLEASE ALERT THEM.

(We will NEVER agree that people trying to subvert our country should be "accepted". Instead we feel we should "expose them, and they should move to a country more suitable for their ideologies").

By all means their little plans should be brought to light. Then a definite Congressional investigation should take place. Any of the leaders of this movement should be investigated for money laundering, conspiracy and whatever else is determined to be subversive.

But a national debate needs to be heard on these people and their right to peacefully co-exist amoung us. Remember there is alot of folks who have been sold a bill of goods that they were simply signing on to a "peace movement" which in and of itself is not a crime.

Active participation in seeking to overthrow our democratically elected form of government is absolutely treason. Look closely at their stated purpose for meeting in Ann Arbor is though. It is to peacefully meet and begin forming a political party. That does not scare me because they will always lose in a debate on ideas and if they want to come out and completely replace/ make irrelevant the Democratic party I saying Bully to them. At least now I will truly know where each candidate that carries their endorsement stands. I think this will solidify the conservative movement in our country as well.

Anyway this is NOT something urgent enough right now that we should allow it to deflect attention from our current actions in Gulf, our troops are going to need all of our support very soon. It is simply time to stop confusing American citizens with the false "peace" movement. Out them and trust in the overall goodness of our population to do the right thing. Domestic tranquility at home and security aboard is the big picture we all need to unite behind. I respect your opinions and am glad you are ready to defend your principles at all costs. It is the strenght of true patriots such as yourselves that will see us through these turbulent times. Long Live LIBERTY and the American way.

Here is more ammo for the connection between the democratic party, war protestors, and Islam. They all see democracy and capitalism and the republican party as the end of all they stand for. (power, opression, religious domination, all the same cloth.) It is Peggy Noonans column. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/855585/posts
