This suggests "a strategy to out-fox Fox," he said.

Did this aging hippie forget it's about ratings, and he didn't have them?

I guess he forgot the days when his old show was at times raunchier than Howard Stern's, just to pull in numbers...

"My wish for the people who replace us is a longer time in the ring and a more patient management team loudly cheering on from the corner," he said.

They were cheering but your show was indescribably unwatchable for us in the state of Flyover.

"...suggesting the network was too quick to pull the trigger and that it might be trying to "out-fox Fox" with conservative voices."

No, Phil, it's just that you sucked. However, to your larger point.......

If that is, as you suggest, MSNBC's strategy ("out-Fox Fox.....I assume he means 'out-FNC FNC', but hey.....who's quibbling) by sticking on a conservative here or there, then it will fail miserably. Allow me to demonstrate.

Two restaurants.........two buffets.

In one, you walk into a dark, dingy, somewhat dirty environment (that seems all too familiar, and not pleasingly so) only to see a single, long row of serving pans filled with steaming piles of excrement and offal. Among these smelly pans you see the one pan with decent looking steamed shrimp.

In the other restaurant, you walk in......it's clean, gleaming, and bustling. Before you are row upon row of succulent dishes; crab, shrimp, prime beef, wonderful fresh vegetable dishes, fresh fruits, numerous delicious salads, you name it.

Both restaurants charge the same for their buffets.

Now.......which restaurant would you go to?

"out-fox Fox" with conservative voices.

Well, it IS a business. And business's listen to the consumers. If it's conservative voices the public wants, then it's a wise business move to provide them. SUCH a stoopid whiner.

Fox should hire the goober and put him on at 3:00 am. When people say Fox is right wing, they could point to "His Dumbness" as proof they are "fair and balanced".
Fox already has Alan Colmes, Whorealdo Rivers and others who walk the left side.

The legendary talk show host noted that "Donahue's" ratings were better than anything else in struggling MSNBC's prime-time lineup.

What a prideful claim:

"I was best of the worst!"

What a legacy. Thanks, Phil, now, uh, buh-bye....

Keyes is as conservative as anybody and he got pulled after 6 months too.

Of course, his format sucked. If he had done a variety of social issues like Donahue and not Israel/ Palestine conflict ad nauseum, I think he would have done alot better.

I love Alan, but he wasn't cut out for a show like that. He always needed to get the last word too.

This guy's show was flat-lined for so long the paddles burnt out trying to revive it. A more heroic effort than it deserved.

Now Alan Keyes -- if they supported him one half as well as My-Nuts-Are-Done, they would have had a show -- especially now!

Meanwhile, the Web site www.allyourtv.com posted a commentary on Wednesday by Rick Ellis saying that he had been leaked an internal NBC study that described Donahue as "a tired, left-wing liberal out of touch with the current marketplace."

As opposed to what, exactly?

The legendary talk show host noted that "Donahue's" ratings were better than anything else in struggling MSNBC's prime-time lineup.

Is this true? Did he really have the best ratings on MSNBC prime time or just lately with his desperate "controversial" subjects fiesta of the last few weeks?

If it's true, NBC is starting to get it.

The report allegedly said Donahue presented a difficult face for NBC at a time of war, saying a nightmare scenario would be one in which his show becomes "a home for the liberal anti-war agenda at the same time our competitors are waving the flag at every opportunity."

No you friggin ahole loser, it's a strategy to show a profit. Get off your fascist lib soapbox...you don't have a right to a TV show. At least MSNBC gave you a shot. Now you're going to stink up their room because you couldn't pull in the viewers OR advertisers.

Think about this you skanky cheese ball...IT WAS YOU'RE FAULT THE SHOW TANKED AND WAS CANCELLED! IT STANK! YOU STINK! NOBODY WATCHED! END OF STORY!
