""My wish for the people who replace us is a longer time in the ring and a more patient management team loudly cheering on from the corner," he said. "This is the only way for a cable host on MSNBC to have any chance of being a contender."
I wonder what Alan Keyes thinks about Phil getting the boot?
To: Oldeconomybuyer
The legendary talk show host noted that "Donahue's" ratings were better than anything else in struggling MSNBC's prime-time lineup. Is this true? Did he really have the best ratings on MSNBC prime time or just lately with his desperate "controversial" subjects fiesta of the last few weeks?

If it's true, NBC is starting to get it.
The report allegedly said Donahue presented a difficult face for NBC at a time of war, saying a nightmare scenario would be one in which his show becomes "a home for the liberal anti-war agenda at the same time our competitors are waving the flag at every opportunity."

No you friggin ahole loser, it's a strategy to show a profit. Get off your fascist lib soapbox...you don't have a right to a TV show. At least MSNBC gave you a shot. Now you're going to stink up their room because you couldn't pull in the viewers OR advertisers.
Think about this you skanky cheese ball...IT WAS YOU'RE FAULT THE SHOW TANKED AND WAS CANCELLED! IT STANK! YOU STINK! NOBODY WATCHED! END OF STORY!

Actually, from what I read, Keyes' ratings were worse than Donahue's.

an internal NBC study that described Donahue as "a tired, left-wing liberal out of touch with the current marketplace." Wow, somebody at NBC *does* know something.

MSNBC spokesman Alan Winikoff wouldn't comment on Donahue's assertions. "Phil has a right to issue a statement and we respect that," he said. Translation: We don't care what Phil says. The ratings speak for themselves. It's obvious why we cancelled him: no audience.

Phil Donahue, pictured above, went on to say: "They didn't (puff), give me a (puff) chance man! Cough! Cough!...."
To: Howlin
True. But the Alan Keyes didn't have the same overhead as the Donahue Show. They advertised the show heavilly and paid Mrs. Thomas $1m a year. Keyes probably lost less money than Donahue - just a guess.

I guess this means that the RATs plan for a LIBERAL Talk Show should be reconsidered. Smile.

Earth to NBC - next time get a host that will actually have viewers!
To: Oldeconomybuyer
No kidding. I said right from the start he looked out of place, like the medium had passed him by; if you caught any shots of him when he wasn't suppose to be on the camera, he looked totally lost. It was like he couldn't believe the "talking heads" were butting in on HIS rants when they stood toe to toe with him.

Well, it IS a business.... They few times I watched the show, he made some comment about injured parties being able to sue "Big Corporations".
If you're a stockholder in GE, do what Phil says. Please. Let the Liberals know that it cuts both ways.
And Phil, watch the tapes of your performances: especially Ann Coulter, Bernie Goldberg, and Chris Matthews. Look at your next-to-last old show with Rush Limbaugh.
May I point out that 1.) you invited them on your show and then wouldn't let them speak, 2.) you set them up, and
3.) you are just plain mean, impolite, and downright absurd in the majority of positions that you seek to defend and promote.
Oh, and you failed to challenge the outright lies of Mario Cuomo, and then repeated some of them the following week.
Why would anyone want to watch such adolescent tripe when at the very least, you could watch paint dry and feel you did somethime worthwhile with your time.
One more thing Phil, you should send a Thank you to FR for the times that they provided you with additional viewers via
the heads-ups for various guests or topics.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Attention MSNBC. Help Phil get better ratings.
I will watch his show faithfully if he broadcasts his show as a Human Shield on a Scud Missle Battery.
He could even wear cammos and a Gas Mask to stir up feelings. I will get my neighbors and friends towatch also if you can ad Hilly, Teddy, Tommy, and Nancy as Color Commentators.
Good Deal?
