Sounds like there was another Dem defection. Only five more to go, and they can vote.

This is good news, but I'd rather here it from Frist. I worry he's not going to play rough enough with the Dems as he needs to.

The thing about the 'Rats. Not only are they racists, but they are not at all beyond demonstrating that FACT at any and every opprotunity.

This may be a tad optimistic, but it seems possible that the pubbies have done a nice job of looking meek just long enough for the rats to swear undying opposition to Estrada, and in general stake out an untenable position.
Now, to make them pay...
To: Havoc
Way to go Senator Hatch you have my vote.
To: Havoc
yea, but he didn't indicate when the Repubs would make the Dims earn it.
To: Havoc
They they just get a spinal tap?
To: Havoc
Hatch said exactly the same thing 2 weeks ago. The whole Republican Senate has wussed out.

It won't be 24/7.
That hasn't happened since 1957 I think.
Just more empty threats.

It's very important to break the democrat's will at this stage in the game so they will basically roll over when a Supreme court nominee is brought up.

"I have stated over and over again...that I would object and fight against any filibuster on a judge, whether it is somebody I opposed or supported."
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
"Senators who believe in fairness will not let a minority of the Senate deny [the nominee] his vote by the entire Senate."
Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.
"The nominee deserves his day, and filibustering this nomination is keeping him from his day."
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
Yet these three hypocrites support the filibuster of Estrada.

Bet the Democrats sure miss Trent Lott. ;-)

This is a great idea. The Rats have been having a political theatre where they claim Estrada didn't fill out his job application. Then they go on and on about the economy.
A 24/7 approach would garner great interest and publicity. Just imagine what those Rat Senators will say and do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Someone will have to tell them that C SPAn is being recorded and the stupid and banal things they say are going to return to them in the next election via film clipped TV infomercials! Also, we will make sure that the local TV in their state has genuine film clips of their meandering mendacities.
Those RATS under these circumstances can't win no matter what. If they prevail the President can claim disgust and make an interim appointment. If they fail, we will still have all those nice quotes to be used ad nauseum on them whenever we feel it necessary.
Better believe that when the Senate goes 24/7 they will fold. By the way, it does not make any difference what it costs (apparently some say just a "prime time filibuster" to same money). We need them tired, cranky and transparent!
