term limits in Fla. So in '06 he's out of a job. He said that the last campaign was his last, so in politician speak that means he'll accept the draft to run for Senate or VP or...

I've pulled that one too. Thanks.

Hatch said exactly the same thing 2 weeks ago. The whole Republican Senate has wussed out.

I spoke with both Senator Hatch and Frist offices today ....mentioned the "mattresses" and staffers at both offices laughed........
To: Havoc
It won't be 24/7.
That hasn't happened since 1957 I think.
Just more empty threats.

It's very important to break the democrat's will at this stage in the game so they will basically roll over when a Supreme court nominee is brought up.

"I have stated over and over again...that I would object and fight against any filibuster on a judge, whether it is somebody I opposed or supported."
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.
"Senators who believe in fairness will not let a minority of the Senate deny [the nominee] his vote by the entire Senate."
Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.
"The nominee deserves his day, and filibustering this nomination is keeping him from his day."
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
Yet these three hypocrites support the filibuster of Estrada.

All right! If you live in Florida, write to your senators! (I've already written).

Looks like they'll be burning the midnight cross... Too true! If there's one thing the Dems hate, it's Hispanics (they refuse to stay on the reservation ... bad dog, bad dog).

It won't be 24/7. Too much security would be required; even die-hard Republicans aren't in favor of the Mr. Smith-goes-to-Washington approach.
However, some of the Democrats, like Graham and Blanche Lincoln, are saying they'll vote against Estrada, but they doubt the efficacy of a filibuster.
Frist should refuse discussion of any other issue, then hammer the Democrats for shutting down the government.

Bet the Democrats sure miss Trent Lott. ;-)

I don't think Graham can pull a Leiberman and run for both. If he tries to, I'm sure Jeb and the heavily Repub legislature will make sure the voters get "freedom of choice" by forcing Graham to run for ONE office.

I believe that it's more politically advantageous to kick back and watch the Democrats' obstructioneering collapse of its own surrender, rather than fall under hostile partisan warfare attacking by Republicans. Democrats can't sustain the filibuster; just give them the time that they need to crash and burn. (Another one apparently defected today.) They're experienced; Republicans don't need to be seen as overly partisan on this issue if it isn't necessary.

Nelson from Florida. Yes, he knows his Hispanic constituents will be furious. Now there's a huge Hispanic population in New York City. Some are thoughtful, intelligent Americans. Some will hear the name Miguel Estrada and know the Democrats did him in. So what will Hillary Clinton do?
