Does the gentleman recall any black actors in "Band of Brothers"? Simple fact is that this war, like the war in Western Europe in 1944-45, was a war between white men. As the "African-Americans" keep insisting, slavery was a secondary issue in the war in the East. It was a struggle by each side to capture the other's "queen." for the (Richmond or Washington. DC.)

"Here is a Civil War movie that Trent Lott might enjoy .... it waits 70 minutes before introducing the first of its two speaking roles for African Americans"So now we are going to rate a movie by what time & how many African Americans are in it?
Maybe he should watch Roots.

Funny that Ebert doesn't mention Robert KKK Byrd's role as a Confederate general in the movie.
Think he's biased?

Wow, has Ebert always been this partisan or has he recently fallen off the deep end? I heard he gave the pro-death penalty "Life of David Gale" a zero rating. What a bitter man.

Just a quick quiz, who probably was more racist?
Robert E. Lee or Gen. Sheridan?
Stonewall Jackson or Sherman.
Longstreet or McClellan?
To: Oldie
No, Rog. Trust me on this. What Republicans want to see is you recreating Mr. Creosote's dinner scene from Python's Meaning of Life...for real.

Oh, I don't think he was looking for any deep, philosophical discourse on this... if he was he would also be battling a significant social dysfunction to jump into a conservative forum and post something like this immediately.

Here is a Civil War movie that Trent Lott might enjoy It's a funny line, something maybe Leno would use.
Trent Lott was/is an imbecile. He'll get zingers like that (and well deserved) for the rest of his life.
