Quite possibly a good name for them.

No, it was the New York State Supreme Court in a ruling on an immigration case where some people had inported a moslem poo-bah as a teacher. The ruling has never been vacated or overturned, so it stands todaya as the law of the land.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't a NY Supreme Court apply in NY only? Wouldn't it have to be a federal court ruling to be the 'law of the land'?

So, you don't mind unconstitutional Judicial activism, as long as it is an unconstitutional bit of Judicial activism that you approve of?

The law of the land is the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and subsequent Amendments, not a New York State Supreme Court ruling.
