Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't a NY Supreme Court apply in NY only? Wouldn't it have to be a federal court ruling to be the 'law of the land'?

The only way this could be changed is if the NYSSC vacates its ruling or the USSC overturnes it and neither one has happened in over one hundred years.
