The reason there is a lack of interest in liberal talk shows is that the liberals have aborted 40 million of their perspective listeners in the last 30 years. Conservatives have continued to have families and have continued to instill in their children conservative values. Many perspective liberals have been lost through abortion.

Actually the real reason is that liberals in general are less interested in politics in numbers that achieve critical mass, among the demographic that listen to talk radio, which tends to be the middle class rather than the elite or the sans culotte. The rest is all jive.

I guess that you can add most of the television "news personalities" to the list also.

The libs don't want their "positions" and ideas" discussed, they want them swallowed whole. Re Hillary care scam. They refused offers to debate it entirely.

The reason liberal talk shows won't work is that THEY CANNOT GET REAL SPONSORS.

Ditto that. I've never listened to a liberal talk show host who would actually engage and debate callers who disagreed with him (or her). More often the liberal host feigned politeness for a few seconds, then called the caller "stupid" and hung up on them.
After thinking this over: according to liberals, Bush is stupid. Reagan was stupid. Anyone who disagrees with them is stupid. I think the real reason they resort to this infantile perjorative is that they haven't any insults left that they can use without insulting one of their friends. I mean, they certainly can't call someone a pervert, liar, coward, draft-dodger, dope-smoker, communist, pedophile, drunkard, queer, skirt-chaser, lesbian, anti-American, baby-killer...
The list of things liberals can't call people without insulting a member of an important liberal constituency simply boggles the mind.

Libs call companies like Clear Channel greedy. If they are so greedy then why aren't they banging down the doors of liberal radio hosts with large baskets of cash to have a show on their stations? Lib hosts have a product that is even hard to sell in large local markets.
Gloria Alred was on "Hannity and Colmes" earlier. She said she's had a radio show for 14 years. I didn't know that or care. She also said that she was at the meeting to set up the lib radio network. Several Senators were there including Hillary. Both Hannity and Michael Reagan predict that the lib radio network will be a dismal failure. Reagan said there will be a huge flushing sound of money going down the drain.

A caller on Rush today said, "if Rush is 98.5% right all the time then a liberal would be 98.5% wrong all the time"
so they can't survive if they're always wrong.

I've worked in radio and radio syndication for 25 years, and I'll tell you why I think liberal shows don't work (and it's certainly not because the hosts' political views are "too sophisticated" for the poor unwashed audience to understand - that's the kind of arrogant rationalization you get from elitists like the New York Times, who can't understand why nobody is listening to them anymore).
First of all, you're dealing with a mostly middle class, middle American audience, who are not predisposed to agree with liberals. That wouldn't keep a liberal host from drawing an audience, however, since a lot of talk radio listeners like to hear a lively debate (this is why Rush Limbaugh moves liberal callers to the front of the line: argument makes for good radio).
The problem is, radio is not like TV, where you can attack conservatives with a one-sentence sound bite, like a hit and run, and not be challenged because you're surrounded by fellow liberals who would never dare ask a tough question. On radio, you have to go on the air live every day, present your case, then argue it logically for three hours straight. Liberals can't do this.
They have only two options: they can present the liberal view on how to solve problems, such as avoiding war (capitulate to dictators) or ending racism (by using reverse racism), and back it up with logic and examples of its historical success -- and we all know that can't be done. Or they can resort to their usual tactic: invective ("Bush is a Texas moron!"). Neither one is going to draw a big radio audience long term.
You can be a BS artist on TV, in small doses, where you can have total control over the image. But on radio, you have to be a real person who takes part in a genuine dialogue with the audience. People who succeed and last in radio are people whom the audience feels comfortable welcoming into their homes. You can't maintain a wall of BS or invective because you're on the air too often and too long, with too many people able to call in and challenge you. I think it's illuminating that so many media liberals mischaracterize Rush's show as being mean, vicious name-calling when it's not at all and would never had succeed if it were. Meanwhile, that's really their favorite method of dealing with people they can't defeat in a real debate. Quite a case of projection going on.
If you think I'm wrong about all this, just consider that Al Franken wasn't even able to get past the title of his book before making his first nasty ad hominem attack on Rush Limbaugh. Oh yeah, Al Franken's gonna become a beloved radio star...

Back before Saturday Night Live, when Al Franken was the short and fat half of Franken & Davis, they used to end their routine with a little music and voice-over bit: "The Franken & Davis Show has been brought to you by the Communist Party of America: working today for a better tomorrow."
Someone, somewhere, must have a copy of that bit; maybe on one of the early Saturday Night Live tapes. If Franken gets his liberal talk show host gig, I think it would be well worth finding that clip and playing it. Constantly.

Yet another theme that goes over real well when talking down to the "great unwashed."

You are absolutely right. We're already deluged with liberal parrot-speak 24/7. Al Franken has his work cut out for him if wants to make any sort of dent as a 'RAT-Chat personality.
