Moderators, please pull if a similar thread has been started. I did a search on "snow" and blizzard" and came up with nothing.
What originally looked to be primarily a mid-Atlantic snowstorm has blossomed overnight into a monster snowstorm that threatens to shut down the major cities of the Northeast for tomorrow.
Just got the latest forecasts. Washington D.C. area will see 1-2 feet. Philly will see 17-34 inches according to their local mets. NYC will see 1-2 feet. And Southern New England (including Boston), which was originally thought to be missing this storm, is now pegged to get at least 10-20 inches before all is said and done with possible blizzard conditions tomorrow night as the storm explodes ("bombogenisis") off Nantucket island during the day.
Some very impressive snowfall reports already coming in despite the fact that the storm hasn't even developed off the coast yet. Some 8 inches is on the ground in the DC area and snow is falling heavily in the Philly area and parts of New Jersey. This snow is NOT from the storm that is expected to develop off the Carolinas this afternoon, move northeast and "explode" off Nantucket Island during tomorrow.
These storms are never a sure thing until they happen because they are so unpredictable. But this storm has all the ingredients to make it a storm of historic proportions from Washington D.C. to Portland, Maine. If everything falls together just right, we could be looking at 2 feet (or more) of snow in many urban areas of the Northeast over the next 36 hours.
Please post your local reports here.

If your dad's in Boston, you must have heard about the piano in the pond? Rumor has it that the Babe threw a piano in a pond and people believe if they can find it and bring it up it will break the 'curse'. I guess I'm not that good a fan, thinking that money would do a better job.

Yep, it's the McDonald's for birds here. We have two
Yankee Flippers to deter the squirrels. Check out their site and watch the video. It's a hoot!

My son (17) and his friend are shoveling our 110 foot driveway. I am parked at the top next to the road and so is he.
My question to him is, "When you shovel us out, where we gonna go and why?"
If I would have tried to shovel that stuff I guess I could drive to the Hershey Medical Center.

Misty, we've got SNOWGOONS over here!
Sam, know anywhere that I can buy a flamethrower to get rid of this crap falling from the skies?
Jen, barring Sam knowing where I can get the above mentioned item, know a good warm area that I can go vacation at?

I got saved! Door bell rang and two little entrpeneurs wanted to shovel the driveway. Who was I to discourage budding capitalists? Now there's just and inch or two which I will handle after a conversation with Mr. J. Walker.

OMG! What a riot!
A few years ago, my husband took a long piece of thin wood, atttched it to a bracket a little off center, attatched it to the fence, and attatched an ear of corn on the shorter end. When the squirrels jumped on to get the corn, their weight caused it to rotate and they wound up riding it down and falling off. They continued to try for hours, all with the same result! It was a hoot. Finally, though, they did figure it out but it kept us amused for quite a while :)

But since they haven't I guess it's time to see if I can yet find the back end of my van, and maybe even find the side walk at the end of my driveway.

You're lucky. Up here in Massachusetts we've already got several good inches of snow, which added to what was already about three inches on the ground, and we're expecting blizzard conditions in a few hours. I think we'll have 1.5-2 feet when it's over.
