Aziz refuses to answer Maariv (Israeli newspaper) reporters' question ***Must READ
Maariv Newspaper ^ | 2/14/2003 | Menahem Gnetz

Posted on 02/14/2003 7:05:33 PM PST by yonif

Translation by me:

tens of reporters left in dismay from the press conference the deputy prime minister of Iraq Tariq Aziz convened this night. The massive leave started after Aziz refused to answer a question posed by a Maariv reporter during the press conference being held at the foreign reporters building in Rome.

the question which caused the criticism was if Iraq will find it right to attack Israel in every way possible if it is attacked by the US, and what will be the Iraqi response towards Arab countries like Qatar, Baharian and Kuwait, who are assisting the Americans. Aziz said in his response, "When I got here I did not intend to answer questions from Israeli reporters, and I have no reason to do so." The press conference continued, but tens of reporters from around the world left it to show their dismay at Aziz's response.

Before the drama about the question from a Maariv reporter occured, Aziz said that Bhagdad is cooperating with the inspectors to prove that it does not have weapons of mass destruction. In his words, all the sites are open to the inspectors and they are receiving answers to every question. He added that his country does not have links to terrorist organizations and he warned Europe that it should not support an attack, because it would be interpreted in the Arab world as a crusade.

I read somewhere that Fox News stopped the broadcast of it as a result. CNN, of course, continued its broadcast, so to not offend its pro-terrorist Arab viewers.

A new "peace in our time"?

He's looking more and more like Bert everyday.

Thanks for the translation, Yoni. The actions of Aziz speak for themselves...

Thanks also for your rapid translation of Israeli web sites for us at CPAC after Columbia was lost.

Hmmmm. Seems, perhaps, the Ma'ariv reporter's questions hit a bit too close to the truth?

Eventually, evil reveals itself. There were at least a few in that room that recognized it. My heart breaks that the Holy Father did not.

I was disgusted but not surprised by aziz' reply. I was happy to see the reporters leave the conference. The picture you posted bothers me to the core as a Catholic, once again I am on the horns of a spiritual dilemma. I have no room for anti-Israeli, anti-Jewish thinking and am beginning to wonder (again) about the hierarchy at the Vatican. What are they thinking????

Of course! Btw, I'm glad to read that other reporters WALKED OUT of that "farce" of a "news" conference!

Aziz better hope he's in Rome and not Bagdad when his nation is liberated, so he does not end up like Saddam, hung naked from his heels after being dragged through the streets.

This pales in comparison to the picture that someone posted of him (the Pope) kissing the koran, thus outraging many Catholics.

I want to see the reactions from these Saddam appeasers in the U.N. when we liberate the Iraqi people and uncover the WMD's and the torture chambers

I can't believe the pope shaking hands with this Aziz. This guy who lied on TV to everybody. He just wove a carpet of lies right before Gulf War I. I wonder if the Pope will sign another concordant with another dictator.
