I am not sure -- I turned to CSPAN 2 and it sounds like morning speeches not filibuster -- will see as time goes by if they have started a filibuster if only RATs keep talking about nonsense. Corzine always says nothing so it is hard to tell! All he is talking about is the budget!
During a filibuster they can say anything as long as they keep talking -- if that is what is happening then Frist has told them to talk of they are voting!
What a waste of taxpayer dollars!

Is Sen. Byrd (Sheets) scheduled to speak? He's always entertaining.

I think so too -- make them talk forever! I read an article that Senator Frist stays up all night one night a week so it will be easy for him!

I saw an hour of it this morning with Durbin, Reid and the Republican Senator from Utah, his name escapes me right now, Reid basically says there will be no vote without getting what they want from the Repubs:
Which includes copies of the memos and writings of Estrada from the White House, Estrada telling who his favorite justice or judge through the years is, and answer questions to see if he's coming with a "clean slate" or preconceived opinions on cases he's had no knowledge of.
Now, seems they're trying to give the impression that other business will go on without the vote or debate on Estrada.

Actually the Grand Keegle supported Pickering and so I think would he vote for Estrada. In terms of nominations I think he tends to be somewhat alright. I could be totally wrong on this, it is just a vague notion I have....

Is Sen. Byrd (Sheets) scheduled to speak? He's always entertaining. I second the nomination! The ByrdMan is often good for a few laughs. And Corzine is putting me to sleep.

If this were the actual filibuster Corzine would have handed off to someone else instead of a quorum call. Looks like he requested time from the Chair this morning to speak on what I am not sure except I kept hearing Budget!

Quorum call.... Howlin, this has got to be the most BORING live thread you have ever posted!
I want a mail truck. And lots of cops. I want a robot.

He was on the floor earlier, looking spunky and "upset." Oh ok .. Reid said Hatch wasn't feeling well and Thanked Bennet for filing in for him
I didn't know what that was about
They just called for a roll call .. I guess it's lunch time

I thought during a filibuster the floor cannot be yielded back to the presiding officer. I don't think we are in the midst of a filibuster. I doubt the Republicans will actually follow through on their threats. Republicans enjoy their banker hours and while they will fight the good fight from nine to four, has anyone seen the Republicans at the Well ensuring the Democrats keep babbling after the close of biz? I think not. No, I feel (although I hope I am wrong) we are heading for a huge Republican cave of Trent Lott proportions. Where is this filibuster Mr. Frist?
To: swheats
Estrada telling who his favorite justice or judge through the years is,Yeah, that's really critical towards his qualifications as a judge.
The Dems are really looking for a name so that they can use ther politics of personal destruction machine against that name, and make Estrada look bad for associating with that name. Seems an awful lot like the McCartyism that the Dems love to cry about so much.
