(KFWB) 2-10-03, 1:12p (Pacific time) -- The LAPD has cordoned off the flyaway shuttle lot and two other parking lots at the Van Nuys Airport while police investigate a suspicious vehicle.
Airport police say the contents of the vehicle are under suspicion, according to Los Angeles World Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castle. Castle says she is not at liberty to discuss the details. An LAPD bomb squad is on the scene. Federal authorities have been notified about the situation.
Passengers from shuttle buses already en route to Van Nuys from LAX have been dropped off at employee parking lots across the street. Castle says they will not be able to get to their vehicles until the investigation is complete. She says they have temporarily suspended bus service between Van Nuys Airport and LAX and does not know when service will resume.

I was heading back to work from lunch and heard this on KFWB. The radio report said some passengers from Van Nuys had made it to LAX before the suspicious vehicle story broke, but there was no problem reported at LAX at that time. The radio report went on to say that KFWB reporters on the scene had asked authorities what was suspicious about the vehicle, but all the cops would say is that the contents of the vehicle are suspicious.
In addition, there have been some evacuations in and/or around Van Nuys Airport, and some streets are blocked off.

I've never known how to pronounce "Van Nuys", but before you smart-mouths sound off, trying saying "Poughkeepsie" or "Houston Street" properly.

Just to be clear, This is the Van Nuys "Flyaway" lot, which is a park and ride center for commute mostly to LAX. It's accurate to call it the Van Nuy's Airport Flyaway, but it is not located at, and doesn't have anything to do with Van Nuys airport.

To be honest, I would have thought that by this point incidents not actually known to BE something at small airports wouldn't be "breaking news" around here.

Was I mistaken? Is that Flyaway lot right next to the south end of Van Nuys airport? I didn't think it was, but I may be mistaken.

Yeah, boss, I'm not gonna make it back to work after all. Seems the cops have my car impounded.
Remember that box of "Blasted Caps" you ordered for the company picnic? Yeah, well, they're about to be blasted.
Honest, it wasn't my fault! You're the bozo who placed an order with the China Trading Company!
Yeah, well, back at ya'. You can't fire me, 'cause I quit!!!

Houston Street--That really threw me for a loop when I moved to NYC. I couldn't figure out what the heck they were trying to say.
