Poll: U.S. Has Made Case Against Iraq

NEW YORK, Feb. 7, 2003

(CBS) As Americans weigh the evidence presented Wednesday to the United Nations by Secretary of State Colin Powell, a new CBS News poll shows an increasing percentage believe the case has been made for military action, but most still prefer that the U.S. get U.N. approval before taking such action and would like to give the weapons inspectors more time to work.

Americans remain generally supportive of military action against Iraq – a feeling that hasn’t changed much since last fall. In this poll, 70% approve of the U.S. taking military action against Iraq.

THE RADIX

It was on a Sunday noon
The big game was starting soon

I was about to be watching
My home team do their botching

Then there came a knocking
Hardly heard cuz we was talking

Yes it was my greatest fear
Mr. Pollster he came here

He there came upon my door
Asked me who I’m voting for

Here we were watching the game
I knew him not nor his name

Tell me what you think of this
He came here to break my bliss

Tell me this and tell me that
I said I was a Democrat

I said who I was voting for
Of course it was for Mr. Gore

As I answered he asked more
All the time while at my door

The thing that made me really sore
I missed my team’s early score

As I stood there with my lying
Another score they was tying

As my friends were booing hardy
I said I loved the Democrat Party

Even though it took so long
I said to him everything wrong

I lied my ass of that I did
I felt just like a little kid

Here’s a word to the Pollster
Quote the Radix nevermore

And not before he had too. President Bush is a shrewd tactician. It would have been stupid to have disclosed the top secret intelligence months prior to having our forces positioned to attack Iraq. That would have allowed opponents time to try to counter our goal of disarming Saddam with force (if needed). This way President Bush's opponents are caught off guard, and he can take the initiative against Iraq. Of course I have believed all along that Saddam would not voluntarily disarm, and have thought war was inevitable.

So what is the freeper position on polls from:

CBS News, NBC News, Gallup/CNN/USAToday, and ABC News/WashingtonPost?

1) Always believe them.

2) Never believe them.

3) Believe them when they agree with your viewpoint.

I go with option 4. Always believe that they are trying to get the worst possible results and put the worst possible spin on them.

63% is the lowest way they could spin the questions. It's really probably more like 80% if a normal person wrote the questions and conducted the poll.
