Ilan Ramon's Body is Identified (Bush: Ilan blew up Iraqi reactor, I will finish the job)

NASA informed the Ramon family early this morning that remains of astronaut Col. Ilan Ramon had been found and identified with certainty. IDF Rabbi Lt.-Col Tzvi Black, in Houston for the purpose of taking part in the identification process, confirmed the findings.

Ilan Ramon will be buried in Israel next week in a military ceremony, after which his family will observe the traditional seven-day mourning period. The Israel Air Force that Ramon took along with him to space was also found in its entirety.

U.S. President George Bush, who took part in the memorial ceremony for the seven astronauts yesterday, approached the Ramon family afterwards and told them [in paraphrasal], "Ilan blew up the Iraqi nuclear reactor [in 1981], and I will finish the job."

It's important to find the remains of all the astornauts. Posted for the GWB quote which I haven't seen elsewhere.

I'm skeptical on this Bush quote. It doesn't sound like him. It might be more likely had he said "we will finish the job." It will be interesting to see if it is corroborated by other news sources.

" the Israel Air Force" that he took with him was found in its entirety? Any idea what they are talking about?

From another article, I believe they meant the Israeli Air Force Flag he took into space was found.

It probably should have said "Israeli Air Force shoulder patch".

Yes I was wondering myself if this is a misprint. I read it a couple times since it is early for me and I've only had one cup of coffee. It does seem like a weird statement.

Rest in peace, Ilan Ramon, you were one of us and we were so proud. May your family find comfort in the prayers of the civilized world.

I live 30 miles from Hemphill and the rumor yesterday was they had found a "torso with long hair."

It's supposed to start raining later today and tomorrow which will not help in recovery.

Some of the woods are so thick that people have clothing torn and are bleeding.

My first thought was at least they don't have to worry about snakes this time of the year.

My 11 year old daughter walked into the kitchen this morning and asked me what "decapitated" meant. I told her and then I asked her where she heard that word. She said the news report on the TV just said that is what happened to Ilan Ramon. I believe it was our local News Channel 14 here in Raleigh (she had since changed the channel).

Needless to say, I was appalled. I'm sure the investigation might want to know these details to piece together the tragedy but that is not something I, as a citizen, need to know and the media should be ashamed.

Rest in Peace Colonel Ramon...

He has the respect of our two nations.

His sacrifice will make the bond between Israel and the United States all the stronger.

Colonel Ramon will be fondly remembered by his people for all time, as Israel shall exist for all time. He is an inspiration to draw upon in hours of need.

When has the media ever shown a hero respect?

The only people they respect are Tariq Aziz and fellow anti-American perverts or despots.

Israeli patriots and war heroes, American patriosts and war heroes need not apply.

I heard a liberal jackass the other day on the radio ('inner city minister'-type; probably Jesse Jackson's understudy), who said (re: the Shuttle), well, we had it coming, and 'the Lord works in mysterious ways', and that he feels in the bottom of his heart the God acted in this way, and particularly over Texas, as a 'sign and warning' to Bush not to go to war and kill innocents in Iraq.

Well, two can play by that game and analysis.

The Lord must on the other hand know how cruel and anti-Jewish, anti-Christian and downright evil the ever-satanic Saddam is, & what this modern day HITLER has up his sleeves, so that the poor seven in space were indeed chosen for sacrifice at this exact time in our American history, so as to unite the American people behind President Bush who so naturally and earnestly effected so many with his words yesterday. (Is this not the actual effect it has had? Powell's speech today will do likewise...talk about a movement of the Holy Spirit!).

How could anyone harbor anger at Bush at this time of unity?

I think (as crass as it might seem) that Bush now has a strong emotional support and bonding with the American people due to the Columbia disaster, which will allow him to precisely go in now with even greater support, and 'finish the job' with Iraq so that the late, great Colonel Ramon will be at even greater peace. Just my own thoughts.

It's appalling what these people will say over their political agendas...we're talking about a human tragedy here and it has nothing to do with war strategies, retaliation, etc...But, when they pervert God's goodness with this, then I really get upset...

Yes, but they only say that in regards to something tragic. If you asked them if God's hand was guiding the election, they would say no.
